Carpets in Dublin 15 homes
This page is about carpets. If it's a sofa or an armchair that needs attention, our page on upholstery cleaning in Blanchardstown covers fabrics and care labels in detail. Plenty of people here book both together, because the machine only needs setting up once.
Blanchardstown's housing is mostly estates: rows of semis and terraced houses built from the 1970s through to the 2000s, around the village, Corduff, Mountview and Blakestown and out towards Hartstown and Coolmine, plus apartments near the shopping centre and the hospital. A good share of it is rented. Carpets here tend to be synthetic, hard-wearing and well used.
Estate houses and the stairs
In a typical estate semi, the stairs is the hardest-working carpet in the house, and it's the one that goes grey first. Every step gets its own attention with a hand tool: the nosing where heels land, the tread, and the riser where toes scuff. The landing and hall are done with the main wand. On many jobs the hall, stairs and landing are the whole booking, and they make the biggest difference to how the house feels when you walk in.

Why carpets go grey down the middle
A traffic lane is the darker strip from the door to the sofa, or across the landing to the bathroom. It isn't only dust. Feet carry oils from outside and from skin, and that oily film holds onto fine dirt, so vacuuming alone can't shift it.
That's why the pre-spray matters as much as the machine. We apply a pre-treatment suited to the fibre and give it a few minutes to break down the film. The hot-water rinse then flushes out what it has loosened, and the extractor pulls it straight back out. Lanes that have been building for years may lighten a lot rather than vanish completely, especially where the pile has also been crushed flat.
Polypropylene, nylon and what each is good at
Most estate carpets are one of two synthetics:
| Fibre | Good at | Not so good at |
|---|---|---|
| Polypropylene | Resisting water-based spills like juice, tea and coffee, and it doesn't fade | Holding onto oily soil, so lanes build up, and the pile flattens |
| Nylon | Springing back, and standing up to wear on the stairs | Some drink and food dyes can stain it for good |
You don't need to know which you have, because we check on the day. But if you have a fitter's label or an offcut, a photo helps. Wool is rare in estate houses here; if yours is wool, tell us, because it needs a gentler solution and takes longer to dry.
Hall, stairs and landing, or the whole house? Send a photo of each carpet and any stains up close, and we'll reply with a fixed price, usually the same day.
Between tenants in Dublin 15
Blanchardstown has a lot of rented houses, and end-of-tenancy carpet cleaning is one of our most common jobs here. For landlords, the best time is when the house is empty and the painting is done, just before the new tenants move in. For tenants, it's the last job before handing back the keys.
We can send a receipt listing the rooms and stairs cleaned, which is useful for the letting agent or your deposit records. If a previous tenant has left furniture or rubbish behind, our house clearance team in Blanchardstown can take it away first. Landlords with several properties should see carpet cleaning for landlords and agents, and tenants the end-of-tenancy carpet cleaning guide.
Be realistic about what a clean can do for a deposit. It removes soiling and most spills; it doesn't repair burns, bleach marks, torn pile or carpet worn bare inside the front door. Those are damage rather than dirt.
Children, pets and the living-room carpet
In family homes the living room takes the other heavy share of the wear: the path from the door to the couch, the spot in front of the television, and wherever the dog likes to lie. Juice, crisps, mud and pet hair come out well with a vacuum, a pre-treatment and the rinse.
Two things are harder. Strongly coloured drinks such as blackcurrant or red cordial can act like a dye on nylon, so they may lighten without disappearing. And an old urine patch that has soaked into the underlay can leave an odour that returns on damp days. Tell us about both when you send photos, so you know what to expect before we arrive.
Getting here and getting a price
Most estate houses have a driveway or parking on the road outside, which keeps things simple. For apartments near the shopping centre, tell us about the car park, the lift and any management rules. Drying typically takes a few hours with air movers running and a window open, and children and pets should stay off the carpet until it's dry.
We cover all of Blanchardstown and the rest of the postcode, including Castleknock and Mulhuddart; the Dublin 15 overview links to each area. Ciprian's carpet training was a Prochem course in 2018, and we're insured for every job we do. For the full service, see carpet cleaning in Dublin.
