The carpets that work hardest in a Celbridge semi
Most of Celbridge is family housing: estates of semis and terraced homes built around the town from the 1970s on, with newer developments on its edges. In those houses the same three carpets take most of the punishment. The hall catches whatever comes in on school shoes and football boots, the stairs takes every trip up to bed, and the landing is where everyone crosses between rooms.
We clean the stairs one step at a time with a hand tool, so the front edge of each tread and the riser below it get as much attention as the flat part. The landing and hall follow with the main wand, finishing at the front door so nobody walks back across clean carpet. Most estate houses here have hard-wearing synthetic carpet, which takes hot-water cleaning well. If your stairs is wool or a wool blend, mention it, because it needs a gentler solution and a little longer to dry.

Kids, spills and the living-room carpet
Juice, yoghurt, crayon, slime, muddy knees: a living-room carpet in a house with small children has seen most things. Here's roughly how they respond to the right pre-treatment and a hot rinse:
- Usually lift well: milk, juice, food, mud, washable crayon and everyday grime
- Often fade but may leave a shadow: blackcurrant, red cordial, felt-tip and sweets with strong dyes
- Unlikely to shift: bleach spots, scorch marks from hair straighteners, nail-varnish remover and anything that has taken the colour out
Coloured drinks are the tricky ones, because the dye can bond to nylon much as the carpet's own dye does. The sooner they're treated, the better. Blot with a white cloth and cold water, and don't scrub, because rubbing spreads the mark and roughs up the pile.
Send us a close-up of anything you're worried about. We'd rather tell you a mark will only fade than promise it'll vanish.
Pets in a Celbridge family home
Lots of homes here have a dog that comes in from the garden with wet paws, and the path from the back door to the couch shows it. That kind of soiling responds well. Hair is vacuumed out first, and the traffic lane gets a pre-spray to break down the oily film before the rinse.
Urine is different. A fresh accident, dealt with soon, usually comes out. An old one that has soaked into the underlay can leave a smell that returns on damp days, because the source is under the carpet rather than in it. If that's your situation, say so when you send photos and we'll explain what's realistic. Keep pets out of the cleaned rooms until the carpet is dry, so wet paws don't undo the work.
Want a price for the stairs and living room? Send a photo of each room and the stairs on WhatsApp, with any stains up close. We'll come back with a fixed figure, usually the same day.
Getting the house dry again
A carpet cleaned by extraction is damp when we leave, not wet. Drying usually takes a few hours, depending on airflow, the weather and how thick the carpet is. Air movers do the early work. After that, a window open in each room and the heating on low keep it moving.
In practice, families plan around it. A morning clean while the children are at school usually means the rooms are usable by teatime. Socks on clean carpet are fine once it's touch-dry; outdoor shoes and furniture should wait. If a chair or table has to go back early, a square of foil under each leg stops marks. Our guide to carpet drying times goes into more detail.
Celbridge, Leixlip, Maynooth and Straffan
We come out from Dublin along the M4, so Celbridge is an easy trip. Estate houses usually have a driveway or space on the road outside, which keeps the van close and the hoses short. We also cover the roads out towards Hazelhatch and Ardclough, and neighbouring Leixlip, Maynooth and Straffan. Just over the county line, our Lucan carpet cleaning page covers the Dublin side, and carpet cleaning across Kildare has the rest of the county.
If a house is being emptied before a sale or a new let, our house clearance team in Celbridge can clear it first, and the carpets are far easier to clean once the rooms are bare.
Price and booking
A fixed price comes from photos: each room, the stairs and landing, any rugs, and the condition of it all. Take each picture from the doorway so we can see the whole floor, add close-ups of the worst marks, and tell us roughly how old the carpet is. Sofas, mattresses and rugs can go on the same visit; see upholstery cleaning, mattress cleaning and rug cleaning. The cleaning is done by Ciprian and a small crew. He's fully trained, having completed a Prochem carpet-cleaning course in 2018, and every job is fully insured. Everything about our method is on the main carpet cleaning in Dublin page, and the price is agreed before anything is booked.
