Midlands trips, planned ahead
Tullamore is the county town of Offaly, in the middle of the midlands, and we're based in Dublin. There's no local depot, so Tullamore jobs are done on midlands trips that we schedule in advance, often together with jobs in Portlaoise, Mullingar or Athlone. That's what makes the drive worthwhile and keeps the price fair.
Here's how it works. You send photos of each room, the stairs and any stains, with your Eircode. We reply with a fixed price, usually the same day, and the dates we're planning to be in Offaly. You pick one. We don't promise next-morning visits, and we won't add anything to the price on the day. If your dates are flexible, it's easier to find you an early slot.
Town houses by the canal and the estates around them
The Grand Canal runs right through Tullamore, and the older streets of the town centre have terraced houses and town houses with narrow halls, steep stairs and very little parking. Around the edges of town, the estates are mostly family homes with carpet on the stairs, landing and bedrooms.
In the town houses, the hall carpet usually needs the most attention, because it takes everything that comes in off the street. In the estates, it's the stairs and the children's rooms. Both are straightforward jobs, and synthetic carpet in a warm house is typically dry within a few hours. In the centre, we park wherever there's a legal space and carry the extractor in, so a house with no driveway is no obstacle.
Farmhouses and the back door
Out in the countryside around Tullamore, a lot of the houses we clean are farmhouses and one-off homes, and they have their own pattern of wear. The back door is the real front door. Boots come in from the yard, dogs come in from the fields, and the mud and grit go straight across the kitchen and into the hall carpet.
Those carpets often look worse than they are. Mud is coarse, so a lot of it sits loose in the pile, and a slow, thorough dry vacuum takes out more than people expect. Then the traffic lane gets a pre-spray to loosen the finer soil, and the hot rinse and extraction carry it away. You can see that soil in the main photo, pouring out of the machine into a sink.
Country houses also tend to have a good front room kept for visitors, with a carpet that's decades old but barely walked on. Those often clean up beautifully. For homes with dogs and cats, our page on pet carpet cleaning explains what cleaning can and can't do for odour.

Clean or replace?
People in older houses often ask whether a carpet is worth cleaning or just needs replacing. A rough guide:
| What you see | Clean it | Think about replacing |
|---|---|---|
| Grey lanes, mud, general soiling | Yes | |
| Spills and spots | Yes, most lift or fade | |
| Faded colour near a window | It will brighten, but the fade stays | If the fade bothers you |
| Worn, threadbare patches | It will look cleaner, but bare is bare | Usually |
| Seams coming apart, backing crumbling | Yes | |
| Musty smell from the floor below | Cleaning won't fix damp | Fix the damp first |
We'll tell you honestly from the photos which side of the line your carpet is on, before anyone makes the trip.
Before we arrive at a country house
Most of the planning for a rural visit happens on WhatsApp, but a few details on the day save a lot of time:
- Water. We need a working tap. Mains, a group water scheme or a well are all fine.
- Power. A normal socket in or near the rooms being cleaned.
- The yard. Tell us where to pull in, so the van isn't in the way of a tractor, a delivery or cattle being moved.
- Dogs. A farm dog is best kept in while we unload and carry the machine through.
- Directions. An Eircode usually works. If sat-nav tends to send visitors down the wrong lane, say so and give us a landmark.
We bring the extractor, hoses, pre-treatments and air movers. If the house is cold, put the heating on for the afternoon after we finish, because warm air carries moisture out of the carpet far faster.

Clara, Kilbeggan, Daingean and Rahan
We cover Tullamore and the area around it: Clara, Daingean, Rahan and Kilbeggan, and further out to Birr on a planned trip. Mattresses, sofas and rugs can go on the same visit; see mattress cleaning for beds. We're fully insured on every job, and our carpet work is led by Ciprian, who trained on Prochem's carpet-cleaning course in 2018.
Nearby, see carpet cleaning in Portlaoise and carpet cleaning in Mullingar. Houses that still need emptying can be cleared first by our Tullamore house clearance team. Everywhere else we travel in Leinster is on the main carpet cleaning page for outside Dublin.
