Longford is a trip we plan
Longford is about as far west in Leinster as we go, out the M4 and the N4 from our base in Dublin. There's no depot nearby and we don't keep a van in the midlands, so Longford visits are scheduled in advance and grouped with jobs in the county and around Mullingar and Athlone.
That's how we keep the price fair and the day organised. You'll always know three things before we set off: the fixed price, the date, and what to expect from each carpet. We work it out from your photos and Eircode, and reply usually the same day. We can't do next-morning visits to Longford, but if your dates are flexible, it's easier to fit you in sooner.
Town houses and estates
Longford town has older terraced houses and town houses around the centre, with narrow halls and steep stairs, and estates of semis and newer homes around the edges of the town. Those are straightforward jobs: the hall, stairs and landing, the bedrooms, and often a carpeted sitting room.
In a town house, the hall is usually where the difference shows most, because it takes everything from the street. In the estates, it's the stairs and the children's rooms. Synthetic carpet in a heated house is generally dry within a few hours. Parking in the centre is usually on the street, and we carry the extractor in from wherever we find a space.
Some of the town's housing is rented, and landlords often book a clean between tenancies. If you own a rental in Longford but live elsewhere, you don't need to make the journey yourself. The tenant, a neighbour or a key safe can let us in, and we'll send photos of each finished room so you can see the condition before the next tenant moves in.
The good room and the long hall
Out in the countryside around Longford, a lot of the homes we clean are bungalows, farmhouses and one-off houses, and they tend to share a layout that affects the job.
The long hall. Many bungalows have a long central hall with every room off it, carpeted from end to end. It takes all the traffic in the house, and it's usually the first thing people want done. We vacuum it thoroughly, pre-treat the lane down the middle, and rinse and extract, working back towards the door.
The good room. Plenty of rural houses have a front room kept for visitors, with a carpet that has hardly been walked on in years. Those carpets mostly need the dust and stale air lifted out, and they often come up looking close to new.
The back door. In a working farmhouse, the back door is the main door, and boots and dogs carry the yard straight into the kitchen and hall. That soil is coarse and comes out well with a slow dry vacuum before any water goes on.
Older carpets. Some country houses still have wool carpets that went down decades ago. Wool needs a test, a wool-safe solution and controlled moisture; our page on wool carpet cleaning explains why.

Before a family gathering
A lot of Longford bookings come before a big occasion: Christmas, a family wedding, an anniversary, or relatives home from abroad for the summer. The house gets a proper going-over, and the carpets are usually on the list.
If that's you, book early and tell us the date you're working to. Clean the carpets after any painting or decorating, not before, and leave a day between the clean and the visitors arriving so everything is fully dry and the furniture is back. If you're choosing what to prioritise, the hall, the stairs and the room where everyone will gather make the biggest impression; spare bedrooms can wait for another time. Rugs, sofas and spare-room mattresses can go on the same visit; see rug cleaning and mattress cleaning.
Planning a carpet clean in Longford? Send photos of each room and your Eircode, with the date you'd like it done by. We'll reply with a fixed price and the dates we'll be in the county.
After a clear-out, or before a sale
When a family home is being sold, or has been cleared after someone has moved into care or passed away, the carpets are often the last thing to do. Empty rooms are the easiest to clean, every corner can be reached, and fresh carpets make the house feel cared for at viewings. Our Longford house clearance service can empty the house first, gently and at your pace.
Every job is fully insured, and Ciprian, who looks after our carpet work, is Prochem-trained. Drying typically takes a few hours, longer in a cold house that's been empty, so leave the heating on low after we finish.
