Terraces, steep stairs and narrow halls
Drumcondra is mostly red-brick: Victorian and Edwardian terraces off the Drumcondra Road, 1930s houses towards Griffith Avenue, and newer apartments towards Glasnevin and Whitehall. Narrow halls and steep, tight stairs are normal, and the hall and stairs carpet is usually the one that looks worst.
Our hot-water extraction machine is portable, so it fits through a narrow hall and up to any floor. We pre-treat the stairs and the lane down the hall, clean each tread by hand, and use the main wand in the rooms. Drying typically takes a few hours, depending on ventilation and carpet type; air movers help, and so does an open window.
Older terraces can be cool and slow to air, especially in winter, so drying needs a little help. Leave the heating on for the afternoon, open a window in each cleaned room and keep the internal doors open so the air moves through the house. If the hall is the main job, propping the front door open for a while makes a real difference.

Homeowners, landlords and students
Drumcondra has a mix of long-time owners, families and renters, with DCU's St Patrick's campus on the Drumcondra Road and Croke Park on the doorstep. What you need from a carpet clean depends on which you are.
If you own the house
In an owner-occupied terrace, the hall, stairs and landing are usually where a clean shows most, followed by the living room and bedrooms. Sofas and mattresses can be done on the same visit; see upholstery cleaning for fabrics. Rugs on stripped floors are cleaned on site after a colour test: see rug cleaning.
If you let the house
The easiest time to clean is between tenants, with the house empty. Student lets usually change over in the summer, which is the obvious window. If the last tenants left furniture or rubbish behind, our house clearance service in Drumcondra can clear it first. The guide to preparing a rental property covers the rest of the turnaround.
You don't have to be there. If you live elsewhere, tell us who will let us in, whether that's your letting agent, a neighbour or the outgoing tenants, and we can send you photos of the finished rooms on WhatsApp.
If you're moving out
Check what your lease says about carpets, take photos at the end, and book a day or two before the final inspection. One person can send the photos for the whole house and the price split however you like.

Match days and concerts at Croke Park
Drumcondra is Croke Park's neighbour, and on big match and concert days the roads around it fill up, with restrictions on some streets. If your house is close to the stadium, we'll avoid booking on an event day or plan around the timings. Tell us your road when you send photos and we'll check.
Stains: be straight with us, and we'll be straight with you
Rented houses and family homes both build up a mix of marks. Here's roughly how they sort out:
- Likely to come out: recent food and drink, mud, general grime and traffic lanes
- Likely to improve: older drink stains, some inks, grease that has set in
- Unlikely to change: bleach spots, burns, sun fading, and pet urine that has soaked through to the underlay
Some marks sit in between. Red cordial, energy drinks and some wines can act like a dye on nylon carpet, and once they've set they may lighten without going. Candle wax and chewing gum usually come out with patience.
If you can tell us what caused a stain and how long it has been there, we can give you a realistic answer from the photos. That's better for everyone than a promise on the doorstep that the carpet can't keep.
Pricing works on the rooms, the stairs and landing, any sofas or mattresses, and the condition. Send a photo of each and you'll get a fixed price before booking. Our carpet cleaning is done by Ciprian and a small crew; Ciprian completed Prochem carpet-cleaning training in 2018 (certificate).
We cover Drumcondra, Glasnevin, Phibsborough, Whitehall, Marino and Fairview. South of the river, see our page for Rathmines, and for the full service, carpet cleaning in Dublin.
