Up the M3 to Navan
Navan is the county town of Meath and one of the bigger towns we travel to from Dublin. The M3 makes it an easy run, and we plan Navan visits around other jobs in the county, such as Ashbourne, Dunboyne and Trim, so the day is used well.
You won't need anyone to call out and measure. Send photos of each carpeted room, the stairs and any marks you're worried about, along with your Eircode. We'll reply with a fixed price, usually the same day, and offer you dates. We don't keep a van in Navan, so visits are booked ahead rather than at short notice; flexible dates usually mean an earlier slot.
Big estates, hard-working carpets
Much of Navan is estates, from Johnstown on the Dublin side to the newer developments on the other approach roads. A typical house is a semi or townhouse with timber or tiles downstairs and carpet on the stairs, the landing and in the bedrooms. Some have a carpeted sitting room too, often the room the family spends most evenings in.
The pattern of wear is the same from house to house:
- The stairs take every trip up and down, and the front edge of each tread goes grey first.
- The landing gathers grit from the stairs and spreads it into the bedrooms.
- The bedrooms show a darker lane from the door to the bed, like the one in the photo at the top of this page.
- The sitting room carries the marks of family life: drinks, crumbs, muddy knees and the dog's favourite spot.
The lane in the bedroom is the clearest example of why vacuuming alone doesn't keep a carpet clean. Feet press oily soil down into the pile, where it binds to the fibres. A vacuum lifts loose dust but leaves that film behind, so the lane keeps darkening. A pre-spray loosens it, agitation works it free, and the hot rinse and extraction carry it out.

Stairs in a family semi
The stairs in a Navan semi are usually carpeted wall to wall, with a quarter-turn or a straight flight up to the landing. Each tread is cleaned by hand, with a small tool for the risers and the nosings, and the main wand on the landing. It's slower work than a bedroom, but it's where the difference shows most.
We finish on the stairs, so the clean carpet isn't walked over on the way out. Children coming home from school can usually go up in socks by teatime. Our page on stair carpet cleaning explains what a clean can do for worn nosings, and what it can't.

Renting in Navan
Navan has plenty of rented homes, so a lot of our work here is at the end of a tenancy or between tenants. Landlords, letting agents and tenants all book us, and one person can send photos for the whole house.
Be realistic about what a clean will do for a deposit. General soiling, mud, food and most drink spills come out well, and a clean, fresh-smelling carpet makes a good impression at an inspection. Burns, bleach marks, rips and old pet urine in the underlay won't change, and we'd rather tell you that from the photos than on the day. For tough marks, see carpet stain removal.
If you're a landlord who doesn't live nearby, you don't need to be there. The outgoing tenant or the letting agent can let us in, or a key can be left in a key safe. We'll send photos of the finished rooms on WhatsApp, which also gives you a dated record of the carpets' condition before the next tenancy starts.
Timing helps too. If the house is being painted or repaired between tenancies, book the carpets last, after the painter and any tradespeople have finished. Otherwise dust, paint drips and boot prints end up on a carpet that has just been cleaned.
Sofas, mattresses and rugs on the same visit
Since we've travelled up from Dublin, it's worth adding anything else that needs a clean. Fabric sofas and armchairs are done with a hand tool after a care-label check (see upholstery cleaning), mattresses with the same equipment, and rugs after a colour test. One booking, one price.
A sofa in a busy family room usually needs it more than people think. The arms and the seat fronts darken from hands and knees, and the cushions pick up crumbs, spills and pet hair. Lifting the cushions and cleaning underneath is part of the job.
Navan, Johnstown and the villages around
We cover Navan town, Johnstown, Kentstown, Slane, Kells, Athboy and Trim, and the countryside in between. Our Navan house clearance page covers emptying a house before the carpets are cleaned, and we also power wash driveways and patios in Navan.
We're fully insured on every job, and Ciprian, who leads our carpet work, did his Prochem training in 2018. For how we cover the rest of Meath and Leinster, see carpet cleaning across Leinster.
