How Dundalk trips are scheduled
Dundalk is the county town of Louth, close to the border and as far north as Leinster goes. Our vans start every day in Dublin, with nothing stationed in Louth, and the run up the M1 takes an hour or more each way, depending on traffic. So we don't come up for a single small job at short notice. Instead, we schedule trips and group Dundalk, Blackrock and north Louth jobs on the same day.
Grouping the work is what makes a long run affordable. In practice:
- Send photos and your Eircode. Each carpeted room, the stairs, and close-ups of anything you're worried about.
- Get a fixed price and dates. Usually the same day. The dates are the days we're already planning to be in Louth.
- Lock in a day. We arrive on the day agreed, at the price agreed. What we can't do is a dash up the motorway the next morning.
If you can be flexible, tell us. The more dates you can do, the sooner we can usually fit you in.
Student houses near DkIT
With Dundalk Institute of Technology on the Dublin Road, the town has plenty of houses and apartments let to students. A shared house gets more wear than a family home of the same size: more people coming and going, more takeaways, more spilled drinks, and a sitting-room carpet that has hosted a few parties.
The best time to clean is when the house is empty over the summer. The rooms are clear, there's time to dry, and the next group of tenants moves into a house that smells fresh. Landlords often book the whole house in one go, with the mattresses on the same visit; see mattress cleaning.

Before the inspection: a tenant's checklist
If you're a student or tenant moving out and the lease says the carpets must be professionally cleaned, a little planning makes it go smoothly:
- Book early. Send photos as soon as you know your moving date, because Dundalk visits are scheduled.
- Move out first. Get your things out of the room before we arrive. Empty rooms are quicker and dry faster.
- Leave a day for drying between the clean and the inspection, if you can.
- Be honest about stains. Tell us what caused them; it changes how we treat them.
- Keep the receipt. Many landlords ask for proof of a professional clean.
What usually comes out: general grime, mud, food, most drinks and fresh pet accidents. What won't: burns, bleach, rips and old marks that have been scrubbed until the pile has gone fuzzy. Our guide to end-of-tenancy carpet cleaning and our page on carpet stain removal go into more detail.
Moving out of a Dundalk house? Send photos of each room and your Eircode with your moving date. We'll reply with a fixed price and the dates we'll be in Louth.
Shared stairs and apartment blocks
Dundalk also has apartment blocks, some of them rented, where the carpet on the communal stairs and corridors belongs to the management company rather than any one resident. Those carpets see more feet than any carpet in a house, and they tend to go dark at the bottom of each flight and outside the lift.
We clean communal areas for management companies, landlords and residents' groups. The work is done in sections, so people can still get in and out, and early starts can be arranged to avoid the morning rush. The picture heading this page is one of those stairs minutes after we finished, the pile lines still fresh. Inside an individual apartment, the job is the same as in a house, with a word in advance about the lift and parking.
Town terraces and family estates
Away from the student lets, Dundalk's centre has older terraces, where halls are tight and stairs climb steeply, while the outskirts are mostly estates of semis and more recent family houses. Terraces mean a hall carpet that takes everything from the footpath and a stairs cleaned tread by tread. Estates mean family wear: the stairs, the landing, the bedrooms, and often a dog.
In a family house, it usually makes sense to add the sofa or a child's mattress to the same visit, since we've driven up from Dublin anyway. One set of photos, one price. Fabric sofas are checked for a care label and colour-tested first; our upholstery cleaning page explains which fabrics can be wet-cleaned and which can't.
Carpets usually take a few hours to dry, helped along by the air movers we set up before leaving. The business is fully insured, and Ciprian, who heads the carpet side, took the Prochem course in 2018.
Blackrock, Ardee and the Cooley side
We cover Dundalk and the area around it: Blackrock and the coast road, Castlebellingham, Ardee, and Carlingford and the Cooley peninsula by arrangement. Further south, see carpet cleaning in Drogheda. When a property has to be emptied first, house clearance in Dundalk handles that side. Our other Leinster towns, from Wexford to Longford, are listed under carpet cleaning outside Dublin.
