Four neighbourhoods, one postcode
Dublin 7 sits just north-west of the city centre, and it has four quite different parts. Stoneybatter, with its rows of small red-brick artisan cottages. Phibsborough, with big houses along the North Circular Road, many long since split into flats and bedsits. Smithfield and Grangegorman, with newer apartment blocks and student housing near the TU Dublin campus. And Cabra, with its 1930s and 1940s family houses.
We clean carpets in all of them, and each one needs a slightly different plan. The method doesn't change: a portable extractor rinses hot water and solution through the pile and pulls it straight back out with the dirt, after stains and traffic lanes have been pre-treated.
Cottages in Stoneybatter
Stoneybatter's cottages are small, many of them single-storey, and the front door often opens straight from the footpath into the front room. That's easy to work with. The machine sits inside, the hoses stay indoors, and the door stays closed while we work. Rooms are compact, so the clean itself is quick.
The challenge is parking. Streets are narrow and spaces are limited, so we park as close as we can and carry the extractor in. Tell us what's outside when you book. Older cottages can also be cool, so in winter leave the heating on for the afternoon to help the carpet dry.

Flats in Phibsborough's big houses
Along the North Circular Road and the streets off it, tall Victorian houses have been flats for generations. That means steep shared stairs, a hall with bikes in it, and sometimes a bedsit where the carpet runs right up to the kitchenette.
Carpet beside a cooker picks up cooking grease, which spreads underfoot and turns the area dark and slightly sticky. A grease-cutting pre-treatment before the rinse lifts most of it. In the hall, bikes leave black tyre marks, which are mostly rubber and road grime in an oily film; they respond to the same kind of treatment, though old ones may leave a shadow.
For tenants moving out, see the end-of-tenancy carpet cleaning guide. Landlords clearing a flat after a tenant leaves can read about our flat clear-outs, and our Phibsborough house clearance page covers whole houses.
New apartments in Smithfield and Grangegorman
Smithfield and the streets around the Grangegorman campus have plenty of newer apartments and student accommodation. Carpets are synthetic, usually in the bedrooms, and rentals turn over often. Apartments mean lifts, car parks and management rules, so tell us about all three. The machine comes up in the lift, takes water from your tap and empties into your sink.
Student rooms change over at the end of the academic year, which is a good time for a clean, though lifts and loading areas get busy on move-out weekends, so a weekday slot is often easier. One person can send photos for the whole flat, and the price can be split however you like.
Cottage, flat or family home? Send photos of each carpet and the stairs, with a word about parking, and we'll reply with a fixed price, usually the same day.
Cabra family homes
Cabra's houses, mostly built in the 1930s and 1940s, are largely owner-occupied family homes with a hall, stairs, landing and three bedrooms. The carpets here are usually synthetic and have done a lot of work. The hall, stairs and landing are what most people book, and they show the biggest change. Each step is cleaned by hand, nosing first, because the front edge is where grit does its damage.
If a house is being cleared before a sale, our Cabra house clearance page explains how that works, and the carpets are easier to clean once the rooms are empty. New owners often book a clean before moving in, for the same reason. Most Cabra roads have parking outside the house, which makes the day simple. Older wool carpet does turn up in houses that have stayed in one family for decades, and it gets a gentler solution and a little longer to dry.
Drying, stains and practicalities
Drying takes a few hours with air movers running; small cottages and flats can be slower in cold weather, so heating on and a window open both help. Fresh spills, mud and grime usually lift well. Old wine, coffee and cordial stains on nylon may fade but leave a trace, and bleach, burns and sun fading don't change. Pet accidents are best dealt with early, because urine that reaches the underlay can leave an odour.
We cover all of Dublin 7, including Arbour Hill, the Navan Road and Grangegorman, and next door Drumcondra, Ashtown and the city centre. We're insured on every job, and Ciprian is fully trained in carpet cleaning, having done his Prochem course in 2018. The full service is on our Dublin carpet cleaning page.
