The two carpets that matter most
Ask most people in Newbridge which carpets need cleaning and the answer is the same: the stairs and the living room. Bedrooms get walked on in socks. The stairs and the living room take outdoor shoes, children, dogs, dinner on the lap and every visitor who comes through the door.
So that's where this page starts. Whether your home is in one of the big estates around the town or a terrace near the centre, these two areas decide how clean the whole house feels.
Living room carpets
A living room carpet wears in a pattern you could draw from memory: a lane from the door to the sofa, a darker patch where feet rest in front of it, and a ring of crumbs and drips around the coffee table. In an open-plan room, the kitchen end adds splashes of cooking oil and sauce.
Here's how we deal with it:
- Furniture. Light pieces like coffee tables and chairs are moved and put back; the sofa and heavy units are cleaned around unless you'd like them moved.
- Lanes and footwells. These get a pre-treatment matched to the fibre, left a few minutes to break down the oily film.
- Spills. Each one is treated on its own before the main clean.
- The rinse. Hot water and solution go into the pile and come straight back out, with the dirt.
If there's a rug on top of the carpet, roll it up before we arrive so we can clean underneath, and tell us if you want the rug cleaned too.
Expect most of the grey to lift from the lanes and footwells, and most recent spills to come out. Marks that have been there for years, or that someone has already scrubbed with a household spray, may fade rather than disappear. A sun-bleached patch by the window is lost colour rather than dirt, so it stays as it is.

Why stairs take the longest
A staircase looks like a small job, but it often takes as long as a large room. Every step has a tread, a riser and a front edge, and the front edge is where the dirt collects and the pile wears first. A floor wand can't reach it properly, so stairs are cleaned by hand with a small tool, one step at a time, from the top down.
That's also why we ask how many flights you have, and whether there's a half-landing. A straight run of steps is a different job from a stairs that turns twice.
Be realistic about the front edges. Cleaning takes out the grey and brightens the colour, but where the carpet has worn through to the backing, it stays worn. If it's that far gone, we'll say so from your photos.

Town houses near the centre
Closer to the middle of Newbridge there are older terraces and town houses with narrow halls, a steep stairs and no driveway. They take a bit more planning. We'll ask where we can stop to unload, and the machine is carried in rather than run from the van, so we don't need a space at the door for the whole job.
Narrow halls also tend to have the worst traffic lanes in the house, because everyone walks the same line. Those get the most pre-treatment time.
A steep, narrow stairs is no trouble for the machine. We carry it up, clean the landing first and back down the stairs one step at a time, so the hall by the front door is the last thing we do and nobody has to cross a clean carpet to leave.
Just the stairs and living room? That's a common job on its own. Send a photo of each, plus the number of steps, and you'll get a fixed price, usually the same day.
What to send for a price
You don't need to measure anything. Photos tell us more:
- The living room from the doorway, so we can see the size and the furniture.
- The stairs from the bottom, and the landing from the top step.
- Any stain you're worried about, close up, with a note of what it was.
- Other rooms you'd like done, from the doorway.
- Sofas, armchairs or mattresses, if you want them on the same visit.
Send them on WhatsApp or through our contact page. The price depends on the rooms, the stairs and their condition, and it's fixed before booking. Drying typically takes a few hours; our drying guide explains what helps.
Newbridge and nearby
We clean carpets all over Newbridge and out to Kilcullen, the Curragh and Kildare town. Naas is next door, Athy is further south, and the whole county is on our Kildare carpet cleaning page.
Fabric sofas can be added to the same visit; see upholstery cleaning. We're based in Dublin and fully insured on every job, and the carpet work is led by Ciprian, who is fully trained in carpet cleaning (Prochem course, 2018). For the driveway or patio, our power washing page for Newbridge explains that side, and for the method in more detail, our Dublin carpet cleaning page covers it from start to finish.
