Finding the right page for your part of Dublin 4
Dublin 4 runs from the docks at Ringsend down to Donnybrook and the edge of UCD, taking in Irishtown, Sandymount and Ballsbridge on the way. We clean carpets in every part of it, and several areas have their own pages:
- Sandymount: carpet cleaning in Sandymount, with sofas and mattresses on the same visit
- Ballsbridge: carpet cleaning in Ballsbridge, for wool carpets, stair runners and offices
- Donnybrook sofas: sofa cleaning in Donnybrook
- Ballsbridge sofas: sofa cleaning in Ballsbridge
- Outside the house: power washing in Sandymount
The rest of this page is a quick guide to what changes from one part of D4 to the next, and what stays the same.
Dublin 4, one area at a time
Ringsend and Irishtown
These are the old villages at the mouth of the Liffey and the Dodder, with rows of small terraced cottages, a few larger houses, and newer apartment blocks towards Grand Canal Dock and the docklands. Cottages here mean small rooms and often a front door that opens onto the street, so the machine sits inside and the hoses stay indoors. Apartments mean lifts, car parks and management companies.
Rooms are small, so the clean itself is quick, but the streets are narrow and parking is tight. A note about what's outside helps us plan where to unload.
Many of the newer apartments towards the docks are rented by people working in the offices nearby, and they turn over often. A carpet clean once the flat is empty, a day or two before the final inspection, is the usual request. Most of these carpets are synthetic, so they clean well and dry quickly.
Sandymount
Red-brick terraces, period houses and apartments near the strand. Sand comes in from the beach and the promenade, and it's the hall and stairs that suffer. Our Sandymount page goes into that, and into doing carpets, sofas and mattresses on the one visit.
Ballsbridge
Big period houses, many split into apartments or turned into offices, with good wool carpets and runners on the stairs. Wool needs a gentler solution and a little longer to dry, and older wool on a jute backing needs the moisture kept low. Our Ballsbridge page covers wool, stair rods, painted margins and office cleans.
Donnybrook
Donnybrook has period houses, family homes and apartment developments along and off the main road, and it's close to UCD at Belfield, so there are student and staff rentals too. Between academic years, when houses change over, is a good time to clean. Our end-of-tenancy carpet cleaning guide covers what tenants and landlords should know. If there's furniture to clear first, see house clearance in Donnybrook.
Family homes here book the usual mix: hall, stairs and landing, the living room, and children's bedrooms with the spills that come with them. Parking is a mix of driveways and on-street spaces, and the main road itself is no place to stop a van, so a side-road space or a driveway helps.

The same method in every part of D4
Whatever the house, the clean follows the same steps:
- Look and test. We check the fibre and the stains, and test a hidden spot on anything delicate.
- Pre-treat. Stains and traffic lanes get a pre-spray suited to the fibre.
- Rinse and extract. Hot water and solution go through the pile and the portable extractor pulls them straight back out with the dirt.
- Dry. Air movers start the drying, which usually takes a few hours. Wool on a cold day takes longer.
What we need from you is the same too: a photo of each carpet and the stairs, close-ups of any stains, and a note about parking and access.
What a clean will and won't shift
Across Dublin 4 the marks are much the same. Foot traffic, mud, tea, coffee, food and fresh pet accidents generally lift well. Red wine, old drink stains on nylon, and urine that has soaked into the underlay may fade without disappearing. Bleach, burns, sun fading by a bay window and pile worn away by grit won't change at all. If a mark worries you, send a close-up, and we'll tell you which group it's in before you book.
Not sure which part of Dublin 4 you count as? It makes no difference to the price. Send photos and your Eircode, and we'll come back with a fixed figure, usually the same day.

Every job is fully insured, and the carpet cleaning is done by Ciprian, who trained with Prochem in 2018, and a small crew. The full service is explained on our Dublin carpet cleaning page, and if you're just across the canal, see carpet cleaning in Dublin 2.
