Look past the paving
Most enquiries start with the drive. In Celbridge, it pays to look up from the paving, because the walls around it often need the clean just as badly. Estate houses here are mostly rendered or pebble-dashed, front gardens are divided by low block walls, and back gardens are enclosed by taller ones, many rendered or finished with a concrete cap.
Those walls go green in the same places every time: the side facing north, the bottom foot or two where rain splashes back up, and the cap where water sits after a shower. On the house itself, algae streaks down from sills and gutter outlets. A freshly washed drive beside a grubby wall looks odd, so plenty of jobs here end up covering both.
Matching the method to the wall
Walls aren't all built the same, and blasting the wrong one does real damage. Here's how we deal with the usual ones:
- Rendered and painted fronts get a low-pressure soft wash, which lifts algae without scouring paint or forcing water into cracks.
- Pebble-dash is soft washed too, with the lance kept well back so loose stones near the base stay put.
- Block walls and concrete caps take hot water, with the pressure eased off around the mortar joints.
- Older stone walls closer to the centre of town are washed gently, since lime mortar can wash out.
We don't repair render or repoint walls, but we'll tell you about any cracks or loose pointing before we start, so nothing comes as a surprise.
Estate driveways
Celbridge has grown a great deal over the last few decades, and its estates cover a broad spread of ages, from older ones close to the town centre to newer developments out towards Hazelhatch. Drives follow suit. Older houses are more likely to have plain concrete, sometimes since upgraded to cobble-lock, while the newer estates are almost all block paving.
Either way, hot water takes off the algae, the traffic film and the green creeping in from the edges, and it clears moss and weeds from the joints. Oil soaked into concrete usually fades rather than disappearing. Our driveway cleaning page runs through block paving, concrete and tarmac in turn.
With the moss gone, block paving joints sit lower than they did. Sweeping fresh sand back into them once the drive has dried keeps the blocks locked together, and it's an easy job to do yourself. We'll tell you on the day whether yours needs it.

Patios and side passages
Out the back, most Celbridge gardens have a patio up against the house, laid in concrete slabs, sandstone or porcelain, and a narrow side passage that barely sees daylight. The passage is usually the dampest, greenest strip on the property and the one people slip on.

In a walled back garden, spray has nowhere to go, so we rinse down the walls, windows and back door before we finish. If a neighbour has washing out or a car parked close to the wall, a quick heads-up saves any awkwardness. More on each stone in patio cleaning.
Roofs and gutters
Houses near mature trees, and there are plenty around Celbridge, get gutters full of leaves every autumn and moss on the shaded side of the roof. When the gutters overflow, the water runs straight down the render, which is how a lot of those wall streaks begin. We clear gutters and downpipes and remove roof moss at low pressure (roof cleaning), so the walls stay cleaner for longer once they're done.

Practical bits for a Celbridge job
A wide photo and a close-up of each area is usually enough to price the work. We'll need an outside tap and a power socket we can use, so tell us where they are when you send photos. If there's no side gate, we'll plan how to bring the hoses through. Parking is rarely an issue in the estates; around the Main Street it can be busier, so tell us what's outside.
If you'd rather spread the work out, say the front this month and the back garden and walls later in the year, we'll price each part on its own so you can book them separately.
You'll know the full price before you commit, and the work is fully insured. We can also clear the house (house clearance in Celbridge) and clean the carpets (carpet cleaning in Celbridge), which helps if you're getting a family home ready to sell.
