How Drogheda trips work
We're based in Dublin, and Drogheda is a straight run up the M1. Rather than squeeze single jobs in at short notice, we group our Drogheda work into scheduled days, which keeps the travel sensible. When you send photos, the fixed price and a date come back together, so you know where you stand from the first reply.
Spring is the busiest time, when everyone wants the winter's green gone at once, so a bit of notice helps. If you'd like several things done, such as the drive, the patio and the gutters, it makes sense to have them all done on the same trip rather than spread over two.
Light rain doesn't stop paving being washed, but a soft wash on walls or a roof needs dry weather to work. If the forecast rules out your date, we'll message you and move you to the next Drogheda day.
Estates on both sides of the Boyne
Drogheda straddles the river, with the old town and its terraced streets close to the water and big estates spreading out on both banks. North of the Boyne, in County Louth, estates run out along the Ballymakenny and Termonfeckin roads. To the south, the town reaches into County Meath, with large estates off the Donore Road and further out towards the coast.
Most of those homes are semis and terraces with a block-paved or concrete drive at the front and a patio or paved yard out the back. A lot of the estates went up in the 1990s and 2000s, so the paving has now had twenty years or more of weather, and it shows in the same ways: green edges, mossy joints and dark strips where the cars sit.
Driveways: block paving, concrete and tarmac
Each surface gets the treatment that suits it:
- Block paving gets hot water across the face of the blocks, with moss and weeds cleared out of the joints as we go.
- Concrete is tough, so tyre marks and green film lift well; old oil soaked in tends to fade rather than vanish.
- Tarmac is washed at a gentler pressure, with care around worn edges and patched areas (tarmac cleaning).
Once the joints of block paving are clear, they sit lower than before. Topping them up with sand after the drive has dried is a simple job you can do yourself, and we'll point out if it's needed. We don't seal drives of any kind. Our driveway cleaning page goes into each surface in more depth.

Patios and paved yards
Estate back gardens usually have a patio of concrete slabs or sandstone, often hemmed in by fences that keep it in shade for much of the winter. The terraces nearer the town centre more often have a small paved yard, walled on three sides, where the only way in may be through the house.
Hot water handles concrete slabs well, while sandstone gets a lower pressure because it marks easily. In a walled yard, we take care with where the water goes and rinse down walls and windows as we finish. If the only access is through the hall, tell us and we'll plan how to bring the hoses through without marking anything. See patio cleaning for stone-by-stone detail.
Gutters, roofs and walls on the same trip
Because Drogheda days are planned in advance, it's worth thinking about the whole outside of the house at once. We clear blocked gutters and downpipes, remove moss from roof tiles without blasting them (roof cleaning) and soft wash render that has turned green where the sun doesn't reach (soft washing).
Photos of the roofline taken from the ground are usually enough to price gutters and roofs. If the house is a three-storey townhouse, or part of the roof is hard to see, mention it so we can plan the access.

Want a price for your Drogheda home? Send photos of each area on WhatsApp with your Eircode. We'll reply with a fixed price and a date on our next Drogheda trip.
What to send for a Drogheda quote
A few photos and details are enough to price almost any job:
- a photo of each area as a whole, and one close up
- your Eircode, so we can fit you into the right trip
- how we get to the back, and where the van can park
- any dates that won't suit you
We'll need an outside tap and a power socket we can use, so tell us where they are when you send photos. Like everything we do, the job is fully insured, and the price is set before the date is booked. Our clearance crew covers the town (house clearance in Drogheda) and the county (house clearance in Louth), and we clean carpets too (carpet cleaning in Drogheda), so a single trip can cover more than one job. Everything we clean outside is listed on our power washing page.
