When a Dublin 15 office closes
Closing an office is rarely anyone's favourite job. The business might be winding down, merging into a head office elsewhere, or simply letting a lease run out. Either way, the space in Blanchardstown has to be handed back empty, and the people who'd normally organise it are busy with everything else.
Sometimes the person booking isn't from the business at all: an accountant handling the wind-up, the landlord's agent, or a director who has already moved on to something else. That's fine. We work with whoever is responsible for the premises and its contents, and the quote works the same way.
A full clearance takes that off your list. Nothing is staying, nothing is moving, and the aim is a cleared office well before the lease date. If you're relocating and keeping some of the furniture, our Blanchardstown office clear-out page is the one you need.
Storerooms: the slow part
In almost every office closure, the storeroom takes longest. It's where years of archive boxes, old stationery orders, broken chairs, spare monitors, Christmas decorations and offcuts from the last fit-out end up. It's usually tightly packed and rarely labelled.
The good news is that you don't need to sort it for us. What we do need:
- Confidential paper out first. Anything with client, staff or financial details goes to a shredding company before we start. We don't shred.
- A quick look for things that matter. Company records you must keep, signed contracts, the company seal. Pull those out, or ask us to put aside anything that looks important.
- A note of anything hazardous. Old paint, chemicals, aerosols and batteries in bulk need separate disposal by a specialist. Point them out and we'll leave them to one side.
Then we empty it, shelving and all.
The office kitchen
Office kitchens are the other room people forget. A closing office usually leaves behind a fridge, a microwave, a kettle collection, mismatched mugs and sometimes a canteen's worth of tables and chairs.
| Item | What happens |
|---|---|
| Free-standing fridge, microwave or toaster | Cleared and sent to electrical recycling |
| Plumbed-in appliances you own | Disconnected by a plumber first, then cleared |
| Fitted units, sink and worktops | Stay with the building |
| Tables, chairs and stools | Cleared with the rest of the furniture |
| Crockery and odds and ends | Included in the clearance, as agreed |
Clear the food out and unplug the fridge a day ahead, so it has time to dry before it's moved.

Handing back the keys
Most Dublin 15 offices sit in business parks around Ballycoolin and the Corporate Park, where the landlord or managing agent will walk the space at the end. Clearing a few days before the lease date leaves time for that walk-round, any repairs your lease requires, and dated photos of the empty rooms.
Don't forget the spaces outside the office itself. In business parks, the bin store and the corner of the car park often collect broken chairs, old pallets and boxes of packaging that belong to the departing tenant, and the managing agent will notice them. Add them to your photos, along with any external store or cage, and they'll be cleared on the same day. Meter readings, keys, fobs and access cards are the last things to sort before you hand over.
We leave every room empty and swept. If the lease requires the carpets cleaned at handback, office carpet cleaning can follow straight after. If the lease calls for partitions, cabling or signage to come out, that's a fit-out contractor's job; we remove contents, not fixtures. Our property clearance page explains how we work with agents and landlords on handover dates.
Closing an office in Blanchardstown? Photograph every room, the storeroom and the kitchen, and send them with your lease end date. We'll come back with a fixed price, usually the same day.
What's yours to do first
A short list, but it matters:
- Data. Every computer, laptop, phone and printer drive wiped or removed. We take hardware to electrical recycling, but data destruction stays your responsibility.
- Leased equipment. Water coolers, printers and coffee machines back to their owners.
- Personal belongings. Staff told to empty lockers and desks by a set date.
- Anything sold or donated. Collected before our day, or clearly labelled.
The office clearance guide has a fuller timeline if you're starting from scratch.
Cost and booking
The fixed price depends on volume, the storeroom, the kitchen appliances, access and dismantling. Photos of every room are usually enough; for a very large office, a short walk-through may be quicker. What we take is split as it's loaded, with usable pieces saved for reuse where possible, metal and electricals recycled and the rest sent to licensed facilities. We're fully insured and an authorised waste carrier, permit NWCPO-25-13287-01.
If the closing business also has a unit with stock or racking, our warehouse clearance in Dublin page covers that side. For homes in Dublin 15, see house clearance in Blanchardstown, and the full service is on our office clearance page.
