Practices that can't close for a day
Dundrum has a lot of practices: dentists, GPs, physios, opticians, counsellors, solicitors and accountants, in the old village along the Main Street and in the buildings around the Town Centre. What they have in common is a full diary. A clear-out that shuts the doors for a day costs appointments, so it has to fit in around them.
That's the job we plan for. We clear the rooms you're not using, at the times you're not using them, and leave the working rooms alone until there's a gap. If you're leaving the premises altogether, our main office clearance page explains how a full exit works.
Treatment rooms, waiting rooms and the back office
In a practice, the clutter rarely sits in the treatment room. It builds up behind the scenes:
- The back office: old desks, filing cabinets, a broken chair or two and boxes of paperwork.
- The waiting room: tired seating, coffee tables and leaflet racks due for replacement.
- The storeroom: superseded equipment, old stock and packaging from the last delivery.
- The staff kitchen: an old fridge and microwave, and furniture nobody sits on.
We clear all of that. The clinical side isn't ours: anything that needs specialist disposal because it has been in contact with patients stays with the contractor who already collects your clinical waste. Equipment that's plumbed or wired in, such as a dental chair, needs a technician to disconnect it first; after that, free-standing items can go with the rest.
Patient records and old computers
For a practice, this is the part to get right. Patient and client records are personal data, and under GDPR your practice remains responsible for them. Before we clear the back office:
- Check with your professional body or insurer how long records must be kept.
- Send anything you can dispose of to a confidential shredding company. We don't shred.
- Wipe or remove the drives in old PCs, laptops and practice-management servers. We don't do data destruction.
- Remember the drives in printers and scanners, and any old phones.
Once that's done, the hardware goes to electrical recycling and the empty cabinets and shelving go out with the furniture. Our office clearance planning guide has a fuller IT checklist.

The village and the Town Centre
Access in Dundrum depends on where you are:
| Where | What to expect |
|---|---|
| The old village and Main Street | Busy road, limited short-stay parking, older buildings with stairs |
| Offices around the Town Centre | Building management, lifts and loading areas to book |
| Converted houses on the roads nearby | Driveways, narrow halls, period stairs |
| Churchtown, Windy Arbour and Ballinteer | Neighbourhood practices, usually with easier parking |
Practices in Churchtown, Windy Arbour and Ballinteer are often in shopping parades or converted houses, with parking close to the door, and those tend to be the quickest jobs of all. For the village, an early start avoids the worst of the traffic and gives us a better chance of a space near the door. For buildings around the Town Centre, pass on the building's contractor rules and we'll book in.

A short, early job
Most practice clear-outs in Dundrum are a few hours' work. A sensible order is the storeroom first, because emptying it gives us room to stage everything else, then the back office, and the waiting room last, once the morning rush has passed or after the final appointment. We start from 8am, so a lot can be done before the first appointment, and a Saturday or an evening can be arranged where the building needs it if that suits your diary better. If the job needs two visits, say the storeroom one week and the waiting-room furniture when the new seating arrives, each gets its own fixed price.
A short checklist for the days before:
- Label what's going, or walk us round on the morning.
- Empty and unplug the staff fridge the day before so it can dry.
- Tell us about parking: a space behind the building, a permit, or the nearest legal spot.
- Have someone with authority on site for the first half hour, so any questions are answered quickly.
Price, and where it all goes
The fixed price is based on how much there is, how far we carry it, and any dismantling. Furniture with use left in it is put aside for reuse where possible, IT and metal are recycled, and the rest goes to licensed facilities. We're an authorised waste carrier and fully insured.
