Coming down from Dublin, ready to work

We're based in Dublin and cover all of Leinster, and Carlow is a regular stop for us, for carpet cleaning as well as clearances. An office clearance here is planned so the trip down the M9 is used well: the price is agreed, the access is known and the list of what stays is settled before we set off.

That preparation matters more than it would for an office around the corner. If something unexpected turns up on the day, we can't pop back later that afternoon, so we find out now instead.

Where Carlow's offices are

Carlow's offices are spread across a few distinct settings, and each needs its own approach:

  • Town-centre offices over shops. A street door, a narrow stair and loading on a busy street such as Tullow Street or Dublin Street. We stage everything in the hall and load in short bursts.
  • Practices in older town buildings. Solicitors, accountants and surveyors with years of paper, heavy furniture and small rooms. Expect more time on the stairs than on the loading.
  • Business parks and estates on the edge of town. Car parks and roller doors, but more volume: whole offices plus storerooms, and sometimes a workshop or warehouse area.
  • Offices near the SETU campus. Mixed uses, often with plenty of books, printed material and old IT.

Planning the day before we leave Dublin

A Carlow job runs on what we agree beforehand:

  • Photos of every room, the storeroom and the route out, with the stairs or lift.
  • A picture of the street or car park, so we know where the van will stop.
  • The list of what stays: leased printers, the landlord's fittings, anything sold or kept.
  • One contact on the day who can confirm what goes.
  • A start time that suits the building, usually early.

Most single offices in Carlow are one day's work. A larger premises, or one with a workshop or warehouse area, may run to two days in a row; we'll plan for that rather than leave a half-finished job for another week.

Closing a practice or a business

Many office clearances here come at the end of something: a practice closing when the principal retires, a business winding down, a branch office shut after a merger. These jobs usually come with years of accumulated paper, and that part needs care before we start:

  1. Records you must keep are set aside, after checking with your accountant or solicitor.
  2. Confidential files go to a shredding company. We don't shred.
  3. Computers and phones are wiped or have their drives removed. We don't provide data destruction.
  4. Everything else is ours: furniture, cabinets, shelving, general paper, kitchen appliances and old equipment.

If the business also has a unit with stock or racking, our factory and warehouse clearance service covers that side. For a step-by-step timeline, see our office clearance planning guide.

Price, permit and where it all goes

The fixed price covers the volume, the carry, dismantling, electricals and the travel from Dublin. Nothing is added on the day. As the van fills, sound furniture goes to one side for reuse where possible, metal, cardboard and electricals are recycled, and what's left goes to licensed waste facilities.

We're an authorised waste carrier holding permit NWCPO-25-13287-01, which anyone can check on the NWCPO register, and we're fully insured. If a landlord, liquidator or building manager asks for those details, we'll send them.

Leaving the premises ready to let

If the landlord or an agent is re-letting the space, the condition you hand it back in matters. We leave every room empty and swept, with nothing left behind that wasn't agreed, and we can send photos of each room when we've finished. That gives you a record for the landlord and something to show a letting agent straight away.

Anything the lease asks you to remove beyond the contents, such as partitions, signage or fitted shelving, is a job for a fit-out contractor, and it's easier for them with the rooms already clear. If the frontage or the yard needs attention before the next tenant, we also do power washing in Carlow, and our property clearance page explains how we work to agents' dates.

While we're in Carlow

If the office carpets need cleaning once the rooms are empty, carpet cleaning in Carlow can often be done on the same trip or soon after. For homes, see house clearance in Carlow and our County Carlow page. Offices in the neighbouring counties are covered on our Kilkenny and Portlaoise pages, and the full service is on our office clearance page.

The process

How it works in Carlow

From the first photo to the last swept floor: six steps, no surprises.

  1. Send photos

WhatsApp or upload a few photos of what needs to go. No visit needed for most jobs.

  2. Get a fixed price

We price by volume, access and any items that need special disposal, and confirm it before we book.

  3. We arrive

The crew arrives when agreed, with the van and covers to protect floors and stairs.

  4. Clear & check

Room by room. Nothing goes until you’ve had the chance to keep it, and drawers and pockets get checked.

  5. Sort & recycle

Usable items go to reuse where possible, metals and electricals to recycling, and the rest to licensed facilities.

  6. Left tidy

Floors swept or vacuumed where needed and the place left clear, ready for what comes next.

FAQ

Office clearance in Carlow: questions

Is Carlow too far for you to come for an office clearance?

No. Carlow is part of our regular area and we're down there often. The journey from Dublin is already inside the fixed price you get from your photos, so there's nothing extra to add for the travel.

Can you clear a Carlow office in a single day?

Most single offices, yes. We start early and plan to finish the same day. Bigger premises, or ones with a workshop or a long carry, may take two days in a row, and the quote will say so.

Our practice is up a narrow stair on Dublin Street. Can you manage the furniture?

Yes. Desks and bookcases are taken apart upstairs and carried down in pieces, with the stairs protected. A photo of the stair and the street door helps us decide how many people to bring.

We're closing offices in Carlow and Portlaoise. Can you do both?

Yes. The two towns are close enough to plan together, on consecutive days or back to back if both are small. Send photos of each, and we'll quote them separately so you can see the cost of each office.

How can our landlord check you're allowed to take the waste?

By looking up our permit, NWCPO-25-13287-01, on the National Waste Collection Permit Office register. We're also fully insured on every job, and we can send those details to the landlord or building manager before the day.

Can you clean the carpets on the same trip?

Often, yes. Once the office is empty, the carpets are easy to get at. Ask for both together and we'll plan the clearance and the cleaning as one visit. See carpet cleaning in Carlow.

The business is closing. Will you take shop fittings and stock as well as the office?

Free-standing fittings, display units, shelving and general stock, yes. Anything fixed to the building stays for a fit-out contractor, and we don't take hazardous materials such as chemicals, paint or oils.
