How a Carlow town job runs when we're coming from Dublin
We're based in Dublin, and Carlow is a straight run down the M9. Because we're travelling, we plan each Carlow job so that one trip does it, with the right size of van and crew from the start, rather than coming back for a second load another day.
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Before you book | You send photos of each room, the attic, the garden and anything outside. We agree a fixed price, travel included. |
| The day before | We confirm the arrival time and where the van can stop. |
| The morning | The crew arrives, walks through with you or your contact, and covers the floors on the carry route. |
| During the day | Rooms are cleared top to bottom, with everything checked and sorted as it comes out. |
| Before we leave | A last walk-round, floors swept, and photos sent if you're not there. |
Most Carlow town houses are a one-day job. Bigger houses, or ones with outbuildings, may need a second day, and we'll tell you that when we price it. If you'd like a particular arrival time, say so when you book and we'll plan the drive around it.
Terraces around the town centre
The streets around the centre, off Tullow Street, Dublin Street and Barrack Street and down towards the Barrow, have older terraced and two-storey houses built tight to the footpath. There's often no front garden, and parking outside is on-street and in demand, so the clear-out is planned around short loading stops. We stage everything inside, take big furniture apart in the rooms, and keep the hall clear for the final run.
Many of these houses have small rear yards with a shed or outhouse and no back access, so everything comes through the house. A photo of the yard and the hall helps. See shed clearance if that's the main job.
Estates around the edges
Carlow's estates ring the town, from Pollerton and Askea to Graiguecullen across the river on the Laois side. These are the easier houses to reach, with a driveway and room for the van, but they hold the most storage:
- The attic, often packed with decades of boxes and suitcases; see attic clearance
- The garage, if it hasn't become a room, with tools, bikes, shelving and a spare freezer; see garage clear-outs
- The garden, with a shed, garden furniture and the odd trampoline
Most estate houses here are semis or detached homes with a side passage, so the shed and garden can usually be emptied without carrying anything through the house. A full three-bed is normally a day's work, and the crew finishes by sweeping each room on the way out.

Student houses near SETU
With SETU's Carlow campus on the Kilkenny Road, plenty of houses around the town are let to students. At the end of the academic year, landlords are often left with mattresses, desks, broken chairs, bags of clothes and kitchen bits across several bedrooms. We clear those between leases, leave anything that belongs to the house, and send photos when it's done, so you don't need to make the trip. For a flat or apartment block, see apartment clearance; for landlords with several properties, see property clearance.
Family homes, and the harder clear-outs
Some Carlow jobs are about more than furniture. When a parent has died, or moved into a nursing home, the family is often living elsewhere: in Dublin, abroad or further down the country. We can agree everything by phone and WhatsApp, collect keys from a neighbour or solicitor, and send photos at each stage. Papers, photographs, jewellery and anything personal are set aside and kept for you. See bereavement house clearance.
When a home has become very cluttered, the person who lives there sets the pace. We clear in stages, never throw anything out without agreement, and keep it discreet. See hoarder clearance.
Need a house cleared in Carlow town? Send photos of every room, the attic and the yard or garden on WhatsApp, with your Eircode. We'll reply with a fixed price, usually the same day.
Price, sorting and the rest of the county
The fixed price is agreed before you book and covers travel, labour, loading and disposal. What sets it is the volume, how far things are carried, and any items needing special handling, such as fridges, freezers, mattresses and electricals. Nothing is added on the day.
On the way out, everything is sorted: reusable furniture to one side, metals and electricals for recycling, and the rest bound for licensed facilities. We carry it all as an authorised waste carrier under permit NWCPO-25-13287-01, and the job is fully insured from start to finish.
This page is about the town. For rural homes in Tullow, Bagenalstown and Borris, see house clearance in County Carlow, and for the county as a whole, our Carlow page. Once the house is empty, we can clean the carpets too: see carpet cleaning in Carlow. For the full service, see house clearance.
