Portlaoise is a day trip, so we plan it like one
Portlaoise is the county town of Laois, about an hour down the M7 from the M50 in normal traffic. We're based in Dublin and cover all of Leinster, so a Portlaoise office clearance is a planned day out rather than a quick hop across town. That isn't a problem. It just means the planning has to be good, because we can't pop back for the last few items.
This page explains how we plan those trips. The service itself is on our main office clearance page: what we take, how electricals are recycled, and what we don't do, which is strip-out, shredding and data destruction.
Getting the quote right first time
The most important part of a job outside Dublin is the photos, because they decide the van, the crew and the time we need. A good set covers:
- Every room, including the storeroom, the kitchen and any basement or attic space
- The heavy or awkward items: safes, big cabinets, plan chests, boardroom tables
- The route out: stairs, a lift (and roughly how big it is), corridors and doors
- Where the van stops: a car park, a yard, a street with or without loading
- Anything staying, clearly marked, so we don't plan for it
A short video walk-through on WhatsApp is even better. For a large site, such as a full office building or a unit with a warehouse attached, we may suggest a visit or a video call before we price it.

Main Street, county offices and business parks
Portlaoise has the mix you'd expect in a county town. There are professional offices in converted houses and over shops around Main Street, public-sector and county offices, practices of every kind, and business parks out towards the motorway, where offices sit beside warehouses and workshops.
- Town-centre offices are usually up a stair with no lift. Desks and cabinets come apart in the rooms and go down by hand, with covers on the stairs.
- Business-park offices usually have a car park at the door or a roller door, so the van gets close and loading is quick.
- Larger premises may run over a full day, or two if the volume calls for it. We'd rather say so up front than rush it.
Public-sector and larger organisations often need paperwork before a contractor is booked. We can put the quote in writing, send our insurance details and permit number for your contractor file, and invoice the organisation directly.
If the unit has a warehouse floor too, our page on factory and warehouse clearance covers racking, pallets and stock.
Need an office in Portlaoise cleared? Send photos of every room, the stairs and the parking, or a short video walk-through. We'll reply with a fixed price, travel from Dublin included, usually the same day.
Fitting the day around the drive
A typical Portlaoise job runs like this:
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Before | You send photos, we quote, you book and label what stays |
| Morning | We drive down from Dublin and walk through the office with you |
| On site | Dismantling, sorting and loading, room by room |
| Finish | Rooms swept, a final walk-through, keys back to you or the agent |
| After | Reusable items set aside, metals and electricals recycled, the rest to licensed facilities |
The one thing that slows these jobs down is last-minute decisions about what's staying. Settle that before the day, and return any leased printers or water coolers to the leasing company in advance. If a job needs two days, we'll usually do them back to back, so the office isn't left half-cleared over a weekend.
Data, files and the paperwork
Data on old computers is your business's responsibility under GDPR, so wipe or remove the drives before we arrive, or ask us to leave every drive we find aside for you. Confidential paper should go to a shredding company first. General paper, empty files and boxes we take with everything else. If the office belongs to a practice that's closing, check retention rules for client files with your professional body.
Price, and other Laois services
The price depends on volume, access and the time on site, with the travel included. You'll get a fixed figure before booking. SPOTLESS.IE is operated by Krystal Klean Express Limited (trading as Krystal Klean), an authorised waste carrier holding a valid Waste Collection Permit issued by the National Waste Collection Permit Office. Permit No. NWCPO-25-13287-01. We're fully insured on every job too.
We also clear offices across County Kildare, on the way down, and in Kilkenny. For homes, see house clearance in Portlaoise. Once the office is empty, carpet cleaning in Portlaoise and power washing in Portlaoise can get the floors and the entrance ready for whoever comes next.
