Straight down the M7
Portlaoise is the county town of Laois and one of the most straightforward midlands trips from our base in Dublin: straight down the M7. It's grown as a commuter town, with an older centre now surrounded by estates of semi-ds, terraces and detached houses on every side. That mix produces two main kinds of clearance: rentals that need turning around between tenants, and family homes being cleared for a move, a sale or after a death.
Every Portlaoise job is priced from photos and booked for a set date. We're fully insured, and we carry everything away under waste collection permit NWCPO-25-13287-01 as an authorised waste carrier.
Rentals: turning a house around
Plenty of Portlaoise houses are rented, and landlords and letting agents need them emptied quickly between tenancies. When tenants move out, they don't always take everything. Mattresses, broken furniture, bags of clothes, kitchen bits and the odd fridge all get left behind.
Here's how we handle a rental turnaround:
- Photos, then a price. You or the agent send pictures once the tenants have gone, and we reply with a fixed figure.
- The inventory stays. Beds, wardrobes and appliances that belong to the property are left exactly where they are.
- Keys arranged. We collect and return them with you, the agent or a neighbour.
- Photos at the end. So you can book the cleaner, the carpet clean or the next viewing straight away.
If you manage several units in the town, our property clearance service covers ongoing work. For flats in apartment blocks, where lifts, bin stores and management rules come into it, see apartment clearance.

Family homes in the estates
In Portlaoise's estates, the house itself is usually fine. It's the stored spaces that fill up: the attic boarded when the family moved in, the garage that became a store, the shed with the broken lawnmower. Each of those can be booked by itself. Our attic clearance brings the loft down with the stairs protected, garage clear-outs get the floor back, and shed clearance can include taking the shed apart.
Children's bedrooms are worth a mention too. Once the children have grown up and moved out, the bunk beds, desks, toys and boxes of school things can go in a single visit, and the room becomes a guest room or an office again.
Loading in the estates is easy, usually straight from the driveway, though evening parking can be tight. A morning start helps.

Need a Portlaoise house cleared? Send photos of each room, the attic, garage and garden on WhatsApp, with your Eircode and any tenancy date. We'll reply with a fixed price, usually the same day.
Older houses near the centre
Closer to the middle of Portlaoise, the houses are older: terraces and town houses near the main street, some with flats above shops. Parking is tighter and the carries are longer, so we take furniture apart indoors, bring everything to the front door, and load quickly. A photo of the street outside helps us plan.
Flats above shops are usually reached by their own door and a single stairs, sometimes from a lane at the back. Tell us which, and how many flights there are, and we'll bring enough people to keep the carry moving without leaving the van on the street any longer than it needs to be.
A house and a business on one trip
Some clients have more than one property to clear: a parent's house and their small office, or a home and a shop. If the dates work, we can do both on the same visit, each priced from its own photos. Our office clearance in Portlaoise page covers desks, filing cabinets, IT and shop fittings.
When it's personal
When the house belonged to a parent who has died, we work gently and at the family's pace. Personal papers, photographs and keepsakes are set aside, and the clearance can happen in stages if the family wants time to go through things. See bereavement clearance. If a relative's home has become too full to live in comfortably, our hoarder clearance service is patient and never judgemental.
Price and what happens after
Every Portlaoise price is fixed from the photos you send. Four things decide it: how much there is, the distance and stairs between the rooms and the van, anything that needs its own disposal route, such as mattresses, fridges or electricals, and the time the crew will spend on site. The trip down the M7 is already in it, and the figure doesn't move once you've said yes. A full house is usually a one- or two-day job.
Reusable furniture is set aside where possible, metal and appliances go for recycling, and the rest is taken to licensed facilities. Once the house is empty, we can clean the carpets (carpet cleaning in Portlaoise) and wash the driveway, patio or paths (power washing in Portlaoise) before the next tenant or the sale. For the rest of the county, see house clearance in Laois, and for what a full job includes, house clearance.
