Relocating: the part your removals firm doesn't do
When a team moves office, two jobs run side by side. The removals company packs and moves what's going to the new building. Then there's everything else: the desks that won't suit the new layout, the chairs from people who've left, the storeroom nobody wants to unpack at the other end. That second job is ours.
We don't move furniture between premises. We clear what isn't travelling, so your movers carry less and the new office starts without the old clutter. For a business leaving Citywest altogether and handing a floor back, see our separate page on office clearance at Citywest.
Moving across the campus, or further afield
Citywest Business Campus sits off the N7, with the Luas Red Line running in to its own stop. Plenty of moves here are short: a company moving to a smaller building on the same campus, or out to Tallaght, Park West or the city. The distance doesn't change much for us. What changes is how much gets left behind:
| Your move | What usually stays behind for us |
|---|---|
| A smaller office on the campus | Surplus desks and pedestals, spare meeting chairs, a second kitchen's appliances |
| Into a serviced or furnished office | Nearly all the furniture, plus the storeroom and old IT |
| Two floors becoming one | Most of what's on the floor being given up |
| Hybrid working, same building | Spare desks and chairs from the zone being closed off |
Deciding what travels
The relocations that go smoothly have one thing in common: decisions made early and marked clearly. Before the clear-out:
- Measure the new office. Desks and storage that won't fit the new floor plan are easier to let go of on paper than on moving day.
- Tag everything that moves. Your removals firm usually supplies labels. Anything without one is ours to clear.
- Offer the good pieces first. Staff, a charity or the incoming tenant may want chairs or meeting tables.
- Settle the IT. Laptops, PCs and phones that aren't moving need wiping or their drives taking out. We recycle the hardware but don't do data destruction.
If you're buying new furniture for the new office, ask the supplier whether they'll take any old pieces back on delivery; some will, and it's one less thing for either of us to carry. Our office clearance guide has a fuller checklist for the weeks before a move.

Campus security, evenings and weekends
Business campuses have their own rules, and Citywest is no exception. Expect a barrier or security desk, a building manager who wants contractor details in advance, and sometimes set times for the goods lift or the loading area. Tell us what your building requires and we'll arrange it before the day: sign-in, our insurance details, the lift booking.
If you'd rather the clear-out didn't happen in front of the team, evening or weekend work can be arranged where the building needs it. On a move weekend, we can come in after the removals firm has finished, so the two crews aren't queuing for the same lift.
Moving office in Citywest? Send photos of what's staying behind, plus your move date and the building's access rules. We'll come back with a fixed price, usually the same day.
After the move: what's left behind
There's always something. Once the movers have gone, the old office usually still holds a few broken chairs, a stack of monitors, the kitchen fridge and a pile of empty crates. If you're keeping the space for a few weeks, we can clear that remainder separately, or roll it into one visit at the end.
Two areas get forgotten more than any other on a relocation: the kitchen and the comms cupboard. Movers rarely touch either, so the fridge, the microwave, the old switches and the tangle of patch leads are still there when the keys are due back. Add them to your photos and they'll be in the price from the start.
Files and furniture that went into self-storage during the move can be cleared later too; see storage unit clearance. Monitors and PCs head to electrical recycling, furniture with life left in it is set aside for reuse where possible, and the rest is taken to licensed waste facilities. Our permit is NWCPO-25-13287-01, and every job is fully insured.
Pricing a relocation clear-out
The price is fixed in advance and based on what's actually being left: how many van loads, how far it is from the office to the loading area, how much dismantling, and how many electricals. Out-of-hours timing is fine; just mention it when you send photos. If you're not sure yet what's staying, send photos of everything and we'll confirm the figure once your list is final.
For homes around the campus, see our Saggart and Tallaght house clearance pages. The wider service is explained on our office clearance page, and our office clear-out page covers decluttering while a team stays put.
