Dublin 15 is more than one place
Blanchardstown was planned in the late 1960s as one of Dublin's western new towns, and it has kept growing ever since. Today the name covers the old village and a long list of neighbourhoods, each built at a different time:
| Neighbourhoods | Mostly built | Typical homes |
|---|---|---|
| Blakestown, Corduff, Hartstown, Huntstown, Mountview | 1970s and 1980s | Two-storey terraces and semi-ds with attics and back sheds |
| Clonsilla, Littlepace, Castaheany | 1980s to 2000s | Family semi-ds and detached houses, often with garages |
| Ongar, Hansfield, Tyrrelstown, Phibblestown | 2000s onwards | Apartments, duplexes and townhouses with management companies |
That spread is why a Blanchardstown clearance can mean anything from a 1970s semi-d with a full loft to a two-bed apartment on the fourth floor.
Apartments and duplexes in the newer neighbourhoods
The newer parts of Dublin 15 have a lot of apartments and duplexes, and clearing them is mostly about logistics:
- Lifts: we ask the management company whether the lift can be booked or padded, and use the stairs when it can't.
- Parking: visitor bays fill up, and underground car parks are usually too low for a Luton van, so we agree a set-down spot in advance.
- Bin stores: nothing gets left in communal bins or corridors. Everything leaves with us.
- Upper duplexes: internal stairs get covers, and big furniture comes apart to get down.

Between tenants
If you let a house or an apartment in Dublin 15, you'll know the gap between tenants is short. What's left behind is usually the same story: a couple of mattresses, a broken bed frame, a sofa the last tenant bought and didn't want to move, and bags of odds and ends in the presses.
We clear it in one visit and leave the rooms empty and swept, ready for the inventory and the next viewing.
Two things are worth doing before we arrive. Take your own photos of the property as the tenant left it, for your records. And go through the presses and drawers for post, documents or keys, or ask us to: anything with personal details on it is kept aside rather than binned. If carpets or sofas are staying, we also do carpet cleaning and upholstery cleaning in Dublin 15. Landlords and agents can find more on our property clearance page and in our guide to clearing a rental between tenants.
The older estates: lofts, sheds and side passages
In the 1970s and 80s estates, most of the volume is out of sight. The attic is reached through a hatch on the landing and is often only partly boarded, so we stay on the joists and bring boxes down by hand (attic clearance). The back shed is usually full of tools, bikes and garden furniture (shed clearance), and some houses have a garage at the side as well (garage clear-outs).
Terraced houses without side access mean everything from the back garden comes through the house, so we cover the hall and floors before we start. Some of these homes have been lived in by the same family since they were built; when a clearance follows a death, we take our time and hand over anything personal. See bereavement house clearance.
Clearing a home in Dublin 15? Send photos of each room, the attic and the shed on WhatsApp. We'll reply with a fixed price, usually the same day.
Price and booking
The price depends on volume, access (floors, lifts, the walk from the van), items that need separate disposal such as fridges and mattresses, and how long the crew will need. You get one fixed figure before you book. An apartment is usually quicker than a house, and a full family house with a loft and shed is normally a one- or two-day job.
A clearance leaves rooms empty and swept, but it isn't a deep clean. Asbestos, chemicals, gas cylinders and large amounts of old paint or oil aren't part of a standard job either; if any of those are in the house, point them out and we'll tell you who can deal with them.
If someone's home has become very full and they need help, our hoarder clearance team works patiently and in stages. For the rest of the county, see our main page on house clearance in Dublin.
