What kind of Castleknock house is it?
Castleknock has three broad types of home, and each one clears differently.
- Older houses around the village and along Castleknock Road. Detached and semi-detached houses on good-sized plots, often with big gardens, sheds and mature trees. More rooms, more outbuildings and more to sort.
- The large family estates. Laurel Lodge, Carpenterstown, Diswellstown and the estates around them were mostly built from the 1970s onward. Expect three- and four-bed houses with a garage (or a garage converted into a room), a floored or part-floored attic, and a driveway that makes loading easy.
- Newer apartments and townhouses. These bring management companies, shared car parks and lifts into the plan. Our apartment clearance page explains how we handle them.
The older houses near the village often have the biggest gardens, and with them the most outside work: a shed or two, a greenhouse, old garden furniture and years of cuttings. We can clear all of that in the same visit as the house, through our garden clearance service, so you're not left with a tidy house and a garden that still needs a skip.
Why do the garage and the attic take longest?
Because that's where everything goes when it's not needed but not quite finished with. In a lot of family homes, the living rooms are the quick part of the clearance and the storage spaces take most of the day.
What usually turns up:
- In the garage: tools, bikes, golf clubs, sports gear, garden furniture, and a second fridge or freezer that hasn't been switched on for years
- In the attic: school books, baby equipment, Christmas decorations, suitcases and boxes of old paperwork
Paperwork deserves a mention. Attic boxes often hold old bank statements, payslips and letters, so we keep anything with personal details aside for you rather than letting it go out with general waste. See attic clearance and garage clear-outs, or read our garage clearance guide if you want to make a start yourself. A full garden shed can go in the same visit (shed clearance).

Are you leaving the family home?
Moving from a Castleknock family house to something smaller usually means the furniture you're taking goes first, and we clear everything left behind. Book us for the day after your removal, and we'll empty the rooms, the attic and the garage and leave the floors swept so the house is ready for the estate agent or the new owners. Landlords and sellers will find more on our property clearance page.
If the house is being cleared after a death, the family sets the pace. We can work around brothers and sisters coming home from abroad, clear one room at a time, and put aside anything that might matter. See clearing a home after a bereavement for how we approach it.
How do you get in and out?
Most Castleknock estate houses have a driveway, so the van parks at the door and loading is fast. Cul-de-sacs can be tight to turn in, but that's rarely a problem for a Luton van. Around the village, school-run traffic in the morning and mid-afternoon is the main thing to plan around.
For apartments, we agree with the management company where the van can stop and whether the lift can be booked. Underground car parks are usually too low for a Luton, so we load from a surface spot.
Clearing a house in Castleknock? Send photos of every room, the attic and the garage on WhatsApp, with your Eircode. We'll reply with a fixed price.
What will we ask you?
When you get in touch, we'll ask for:
- Photos of each room, the attic, the garage and any shed
- What's staying, if anything
- Your Eircode and a note on parking and access
- Any deadline, such as a sale closing or a move date
- Anything very heavy, like a piano or a safe (we can't take paint, oils or chemicals)
From that we'll give you a fixed price that covers the crew, the van and the disposal. On the day, everything is sorted: reusable items set aside, metals and electricals recycled, the rest to licensed facilities. If someone's home has become very full, we can clear it discreetly and without hurrying anyone; see hoarder clearance. For the rest of the county, see house clearance in Dublin.
