Clear first, then get the removal quote
Removal companies price on volume. Every wardrobe, bed and box you're not taking still costs you money if it goes on their van, so the sensible order is: decide what's going, clear what isn't, then get the removal quote. In a Dublin 15 semi with a full loft and a garage, the difference can be a whole van.
This page is about clear-outs around a move, and about part-house jobs for people who are staying put. For an overview of Dublin 15's estates, apartments and rentals, see our main Blanchardstown page.
What usually gets left behind
Families moving on from a D15 house tend to leave the same things behind:
- Outgrown children's things: bunk beds, cots, high chairs, toy boxes and bikes with stabilisers
- Flat-pack that won't survive another move: wardrobes, chests and desks that were built once and won't take a second dismantling
- The garden: a trampoline, a swing set, a playhouse, plastic garden furniture and a broken barbecue
- The garage: a second fridge or freezer, an exercise bike, tools, timber and boxes nobody has opened since the last move
- The spare room: a sofa bed, a desk and a treadmill
We take it all, dismantling bulky pieces so they come out without marking the walls. If it's only one or two pieces, furniture removal suits better.

Moving day, and the day after
There are two ways to time it. Some people book us a few days before the removal, so the movers only see what's going. Others prefer to move out first and have us clear whatever's left the next day, before the keys go to the estate agent.
Both work. If you're selling, check with your solicitor what the contract says must be left in the house, such as curtains, light fittings or white goods, so we don't take something the buyers expect to find. Once you've moved, we can work from keys and send photos of the empty rooms on WhatsApp.
A simple timeline for a move
If you have a few weeks' notice, this order keeps things calm:
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| Five or six weeks out | Walk round with stickers or a list and mark what's coming with you |
| Four weeks out | Send us photos of everything else for a fixed price, and book a date |
| Two or three weeks out | We clear the loft, garage, shed and spare rooms |
| Then | Get the removal quote, now based only on what's going |
| The day after you move | We take whatever's left and sweep the floors before the keys go back |
With less notice, the same steps just happen closer together.
Moving out of a Dublin 15 house? Send photos of each room, the loft, the garage and the garden on WhatsApp, with your moving date. We'll reply with a fixed price, usually the same day.
Staying put but reclaiming space
Plenty of people in Blanchardstown, Clonsilla and Castaheany aren't moving at all. They just want part of the house back:
- The garage, before turning it into a room, or so the car finally fits; see garage clear-outs.
- The loft, before new insulation or an attic conversion; see attic clearance.
- The children's rooms, once they've moved out or into bigger beds.
- The shed and the garden, before a makeover or a new patio; see shed clearance.
A part-house job is priced on what's going, not the size of the house, and is usually done in a few hours.
Driveways and estates
Most D15 estate houses have a driveway, so the van parks at the door and loading is quick. Tight cul-de-sacs and cars parked on both sides of the road are the usual hold-up, and a word with the neighbours the night before helps. If you live near a school, we'll avoid arriving at drop-off or collection time.
Upper-floor duplexes and apartments in the newer neighbourhoods mean internal stairs, management companies and visitor parking; see apartment clearance for how we handle those. If you're unsure whether something can go, such as a piano or a hot tub, send a photo and ask.
When the move is a hard one
Not every move is a happy one. Sometimes a house is being sold after a death in the family, and the clear-out needs patience and care; our bereavement house clearance page explains how we work. Sometimes a separation means one person leaves with very little and the rest has to go. And sometimes a home has become so full that moving seems impossible; our hoarder clearance team helps one step at a time.
Whatever the reason, everything is sorted as it leaves: reusable furniture kept aside, appliances and metals recycled, and the rest taken to licensed facilities under permit NWCPO-25-13287-01. For the rest of the county, see house clearance in Dublin.
