Three kinds of home, three kinds of carpet
Naas has grown a lot around its old centre. There are two-storey town houses and older homes close to the main street, estates of semis and terraces on every road out of town, and apartments and newer schemes nearer the motorway. The carpets in each tend to need different things.
| Home | Where the wear shows | What we watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Older town house | Hall, stairs and front room | Wool and older dyes, so a colour test first and controlled moisture |
| Estate semi or terrace | Hall, stairs and the lane to the sofa | Pale carpet fitted when the estate was built, with grey traffic lanes |
| Apartment or rental | Living area and bedrooms | Turnover between tenants, older marks, parking and access |
Whatever the house, the method is the same: pre-treat, rinse with hot water, extract, then dry. What changes is how much moisture goes in and which pre-treatment suits the fibre.
Older houses near the centre
The older homes in Naas often have a wool or wool-blend carpet on the stairs and in the front room, sometimes decades old. Wool cleans well, but it holds more water than a synthetic and it can brown or shrink if it's soaked. So we keep the water down, use a solution that suits wool, and test somewhere out of sight before starting.
Old carpets also sit on old underlay, and old underlay hides old spills. If a mark keeps returning after a clean, it's usually wicking up from underneath as the carpet dries. We'll warn you about that from the photos if it looks likely, and go over the area twice.
Some of these houses also have a rug on stripped boards in the front room, or a runner held with rods on the stairs. Both are cleaned where they lie. A rug gets a colour-run test before anything else, and it should be dry right through before it goes back onto the timber, so plan on leaving it rolled back for the afternoon.

Estate homes: hall, stairs and living room
In the estates, the carpet story is nearly always the same. A light beige or grey carpet went down when the house was built or last done up, and the hall, the stairs and the path from the living-room door to the sofa have turned darker than the rest.
That grey lane is mostly oily soil walked in from outside, and it doesn't vacuum out. A pre-treatment breaks it down and the hot-water rinse carries it away. The stairs are cleaned by hand, tread by tread, because that's the only way to reach the front edge of each step properly.
What a clean can't do is rebuild pile that has been flattened or worn thin. If a carpet is near the end of its life, we'd rather tell you from your photos than take your money.
Rentals between tenants
Naas has plenty of rented homes, from apartments in town to family houses in the estates. Landlords usually book when the house is empty between tenancies; tenants book a day or two before they hand back the keys, so the carpet has time to dry before the inspection.
We'll be straight about what will lift. Spills and general soiling usually come out well. Burns, bleach spots and old pet urine in the underlay may only improve. Our end-of-tenancy guide has more on deposits and what landlords tend to look for.
If there's furniture or rubbish to go before the clean, see property clear-outs in Naas.

Coming out from Dublin
Spotless is based in Dublin, and Naas is a short run down the M7, well within the area we cover every week. We group Kildare jobs where we can, and offer you the earliest free slot when we send the price.
Most Naas homes have a driveway or a space outside, which makes unloading easy. In a town-centre house or an apartment, let us know about parking and access. We need a tap to fill the machine and a socket to plug it into, and we wear shoe covers indoors.
On the day, we walk through the rooms with you first, agree what's being cleaned and point out any marks we don't expect to lift. Then it's pre-treatment, the clean itself and a last look together before we pack up. How long it takes depends on the number of rooms and flights of stairs, and we'll give you an idea when we quote.

Naas and nearby
We clean carpets across Naas and out to Sallins, Johnstown, Kill and Clane, and down the road in Newbridge. For the rest of the county, see carpet cleaning in Kildare.
The price depends on the rooms, stairs, any rugs, sofas or mattresses, and their condition, and it's fixed before booking. Rugs are cleaned on site after a colour test (rug cleaning), and fabric sofas can go on the same visit (upholstery cleaning). We're fully insured, and Ciprian completed Prochem carpet-cleaning training in 2018 (certificate 2018/020). For how the whole service works, see our Dublin carpet cleaning page. Outside the house, driveways and patios are a separate job for our power washing team in Naas.
