What "same day" means with us
If you searched for same-day carpet cleaning, here's the honest answer. The quote is what we can usually turn round the same day. The clean itself goes in the earliest free slot in our diary, and we'll tell you exactly when that is when we send the price. Sometimes it's soon, sometimes it's later in the week. We'd rather give you a real date than promise a time and let you down.
Two things widen the options. Tell us if you can be flexible on the time of day, and whether we could come while you're out, with a key left with a neighbour or in a key safe. Either can mean an earlier visit.
Here's what you can count on:
- Photos in, price back, usually the same day.
- The earliest slot we have, offered with the price, so you can decide straight away.
- First aid for the spill in the meantime, so it doesn't set before we get there.
- Drying planned around your deadline. A few hours, depending on airflow, with air movers to speed it up.
The cleaning is the same careful hot-water extraction whether it was booked a month ago or this morning. Ciprian, who founded Spotless and works on jobs himself, completed the Prochem carpet-cleaning course in 2018 (certificate no. 2018/020), and we're fully insured on every job. Our main carpet cleaning page has the full detail.
Getting a quick quote: what to send
The faster we can see the problem, the faster you get a price. On WhatsApp to 085 202 1222, or through the contact page, send:
- a wide photo of each room from the doorway
- a close-up of the stain, with something like a coin beside it for scale
- what caused it and roughly when
- anything that's already been put on it
- your area or Eircode
- the date and time you need it done by
A clear photo and a few words usually save a phone call. If a stain looks unlikely to come out completely, we'll say so in the reply, so you can decide whether it's still worth booking against your deadline.
Spill first aid until we arrive
What you do in the first half hour makes a big difference to how well a stain comes out later. The general rules: blot, don't rub; use cold water, not hot; and use as little of anything as possible.
| Spill | Do this now | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Red wine, tea, coffee, juice | Blot from the outside in with a white cloth or kitchen roll, dab with cold water, blot again | Rubbing, hot water, salt, bleach |
| Pet urine | Press kitchen roll into it (standing on it helps), dab with cold water, blot again | Ammonia or bleach cleaners, scented sprays |
| Pet vomit or mess | Lift solids with a spoon or card, then blot and dab with cold water | Pushing it into the pile |
| Mud | Let it dry completely, break it up and vacuum | Wiping it while wet, which spreads it |
| Grease, make-up, candle wax | Scrape off what lifts easily; let wax harden first | Solvents and nail varnish remover, which can damage fibres |
| Ink, dye, hair colour | Blot gently and leave it for us | Scrubbing or household stain sprays |
Then leave it alone. A stain that has been scrubbed or soaked in a product is much harder to deal with than one that has only been blotted. When we arrive, tell us exactly what was used, because it changes how we treat it.

Spilled something and need a price? Send a close-up of the stain, a photo of the room and your deadline on WhatsApp. We'll reply with a price and our earliest free slot, usually the same day.
Short-notice jobs we're asked about
These are the usual reasons people need carpets cleaned quickly, and each needs slightly different planning:
- A house viewing or valuation. Book far enough ahead for the carpet to dry, ideally the day before. See preparing a property for sale.
- An end-of-tenancy inspection. Clean once the rooms are empty and any other work is finished. Our end-of-tenancy carpet guide explains the timing, and landlords can see carpet cleaning for landlords and agents.
- Visitors or a family occasion. A christening, a communion or Christmas guests: a clean two or three days ahead leaves time to dry and to put the room back together.
- After a party. Blot everything you can that night, then send us photos the next morning.
- A new baby or puppy coming home. Carpets, the sofa and the mattress can all be done on the same visit.
Working back from your deadline
The clean itself is only half the plan; the carpet also needs time to dry. It usually takes a few hours, depending on the airflow in the room, the weather and the thickness of the carpet. Work back from the moment you need the room:
- Need it tonight? A morning clean, with air movers running and a window open, should leave it dry by the evening.
- Need it first thing tomorrow? A clean the day before is ideal.
- Furniture going back in? Wait until the carpet is dry, or slide foil or plastic under the legs.
Opening windows, putting the heating on and keeping the doors open all help. If guests are on the way, keep the room closed to traffic while it dries, and keep pets out of it. Our guide to carpet drying times has more.

When a spill is too big for first aid
Some problems aren't a carpet-cleaning job, at least not at first. If a carpet has been soaked by a burst pipe, a leak from upstairs or a flood, call your home insurer first. Water that has gone through to the underlay and the floor usually needs a water-damage specialist to dry it out properly. A carpet clean comes after that, not instead of it.
The same goes for sewage, which needs specialist handling. For everyday spills and stains, though, the steps above will buy you time until we can get there, and you can see exactly what happens on the day in our carpet cleaning service, step by step.
