One side of the city, very different buildings
North of the Liffey, an apartment can mean a concierge block on the Docklands quays, a flat on the first floor of a Drumcondra red-brick, or a duplex with its own front door in Ongar. They all need clearing in much the same way, but the route from the front door to the van is completely different in each. This page goes through the northside area by area, with what we plan for in each and links to the local pages.
For houses rather than apartments, see our northside house clearance page. For the whole city at once, the Dublin apartment clearance page goes district by district on both sides of the river.
The Docklands and the north city centre
IFSC and North Wall (Dublin 1). The blocks along the quays and around Mayor Street and Spencer Dock are mostly managed buildings with a concierge, lifts and underground parking. Contractor sign-in, a booked lift and a loading point are standard, and stopping a van on the quays themselves is rarely an option. We plan the day with the concierge's arrangements in hand and keep the van's time outside short.
Smithfield and Stoneybatter (Dublin 7). Around the square and the Luas Red Line there's a mix of purpose-built blocks and older buildings converted into apartments. Conversions can have smaller lifts and narrower stairs than newer blocks, so bulky furniture is taken apart in the rooms. Close by, flats in divided houses near the Mater and TU Dublin Grangegorman have their own page on Phibsborough clear-outs.

Drumcondra and Santry
Drumcondra (Dublin 9). Many flats here are in red-brick houses divided into units, near DCU and St Patrick's campus, with steep stairs, a shared hall and on-street parking. Everything is carried down by hand, and dates near Croke Park fixtures are best avoided. Our Drumcondra house clearance page covers the area's houses.
Santry (Dublin 9). The newer blocks off the Swords Road and Santry Avenue, close to the M50 and the airport, are managed buildings with lifts and car parks, and usually more room for a van to stop than the city centre. See house clearance in Santry for the rest of the area.
The clip above was filmed during and after one of our own apartment jobs in Raheny, Dublin 5, a few kilometres east of Santry. The Raheny clearance page has a house job from the same area.
Swords and Dublin 15
Swords (Fingal). Apartments and duplexes in schemes around the town centre and the newer estates, many run by management companies with surface car parks rather than basements. That generally makes loading straightforward, though visitor spaces can be scarce. More on the town on our Swords page.
Dublin 15. Ongar, Hansfield, Tyrrelstown, Clonsilla and the area around Blanchardstown have a lot of duplexes and low-rise apartment blocks. Many duplexes have their own front door and internal stairs, which makes them clear more like a small house. See Blanchardstown and Castleknock for the houses nearby.
Clearing an apartment north of the Liffey? Send photos of each room, the floor number and a line about the lift and parking. We'll come back with a fixed price, usually the same day.

Your area not in the table? We clear apartments right across the northside, including the seafront blocks in Clontarf, the newer buildings around the DART station at Clongriffin, and flats in Glasnevin, Beaumont, Finglas and Coolock. The same questions apply everywhere: which floor, what the lift is like, and how close the van can get.
Price, timing and what happens to the contents
Every job is priced from photos on what's there and how hard it is to get out: the volume, the floor, the lift, the distance to the van and anything that needs special handling, such as fridges or mattresses. The price is fixed before we book, and most apartments take a few hours to a day.
We carry full insurance on each job, and we collect under our own waste permit, NWCPO-25-13287-01. Furniture fit for another home is held back for reuse where we can, fridges, cookers and metal go to recycling, and what remains ends up at licensed facilities, never in a ditch or a laneway. For the service in general, see apartment clearance; for the other side of the river, see southside apartment clearance.
