Kilcock, on the canal and the county line
Kilcock is the last Kildare town before Meath, sitting on the Royal Canal just off the M4, a few miles west of Maynooth. Its older centre grew up around the canal harbour and the main street, and over the last couple of decades it has spread out in new estates of family homes, many of them bought by commuters using the motorway or the train line into Dublin. Step a mile or two north or west and you're in County Meath, among country houses and farms around Summerhill and Enfield.
For Spotless, that's three kinds of job in a small area: town houses near the canal, estate homes full of family life, and rural properties over the border. Kilcock is a short run out the M4 from Dublin, so dates are usually easy to find. We price everything from photos, we're fully insured, and the contents go out under our waste permit, NWCPO-25-13287-01, as an authorised waste carrier.
Newer estates: family homes and what fills them
Most of Kilcock's housing is newer estates of semi-ds, terraces and detached houses. Loading here is easy, usually straight from the driveway, and the work is concentrated in the spaces families fill without noticing:
- The attic. Baby things, toys, Christmas boxes and suitcases. See attic clearance.
- The garage. Bikes, buggies, garden furniture, paint and the old freezer. See garage clear-outs.
- The shed. Mowers, tools, broken toys, and sometimes a shed that's past saving. See shed clearance.
- The garden. A trampoline frame, a rotted playhouse, an old rabbit hutch or kennel.
If you have a dog or a cat, pet things accumulate like everything else: crates, hutches, scratching posts, worn-out beds. They go with the rest of the load.
If your Kilcock house was a first home and you're now moving somewhere bigger, clear the stored spaces before the estate agent's photos. The rooms look larger, viewers can see the attic and garage properly, and the removal van only carries what you actually want in the new place.

Older houses near the canal
Around the older centre, closer to the canal and the main street, the houses are older and the streets tighter. Some open straight onto the footpath, with a narrow hall and a steep stairs. Parking can be limited, so we plan the carry: furniture comes apart upstairs, everything is lined up by the door, and the van loads in quick bursts.
Typical clearances in the older part of town include a parent's house after a death, a rental between tenants, and a home being sold. For flats in apartment blocks, with lifts and management company rules, see apartment clearance.

Either side of the border
Because Kilcock sits right on the county line, a lot of the houses nearby are in Meath: bungalows, farmhouses and one-off homes on the roads towards Summerhill, Enfield and Kilcloon. These often come with outbuildings, such as a garage, a workshop or a couple of sheds, and they take longer than an estate house. Send photos of each building and the entrance, and we'll plan the van and crew to match. Some lanes out there are narrow and some yard gates are too tight for a box van, so a picture of the way in saves a wasted journey for everyone.
It makes no difference to us which county you're in. For the Meath side more generally, see house clearance in Meath, and for the next town east, house clearance in Maynooth. Kilcock is the western end of the run of commuter towns along the M4 and the canal, which our north Kildare house clearance page covers as a group.
When the clearance is harder
Some clearances are about more than space. When a family is emptying a parent's home after a death, we work gently and at their pace, keeping papers, photographs and anything personal aside; our bereavement clearance page explains how we work with executors. When a relative's home has become so full it's hard to live in, hoarder clearance is calm, private and free of judgement.
Price and the next step
The price is set from your photos: the number of van loads, how far everything has to be carried, anything needing its own disposal route such as fridges, mattresses or electricals, and the time on site. It's fixed before you book. An estate house is normally cleared in a day or two, while a property over the border with several outbuildings can need longer, which we'll tell you when we quote. Usable furniture is kept back for reuse where possible, metals and appliances are recycled, and the rest goes to licensed facilities.
Once the house is empty, carpet cleaning in Kilcock is worth doing before a sale or new tenants. Our house clearance page covers a full job, and house clearance in Kildare covers the rest of the county.
