Six towns along the M4 and the canals
North Kildare is Dublin's commuter belt, and most of the clear-outs we do here are in estate homes rather than town houses or farms. The towns are close together, but each has its own feel:
- Leixlip, on the Dublin border beside Lucan, with estates spreading up from the old village.
- Maynooth, the university town on the Royal Canal, where family estates sit alongside student lets.
- Celbridge, on the Liffey, with large estates built from the 1970s onwards.
- Kilcock, near the Meath border on the canal, which has grown quickly with newer estates.
- Clane, on the Liffey between Celbridge and Naas, with a mix of older and newer housing.
- Sallins, on the Grand Canal, where estates have gone up within walking distance of the train station.
People here commute by the M4, the Maynooth line trains or the Kildare line from Sallins, and they tend to stay put for years. That's why the attics and garages fill up. For the county as a whole, see house clearance in Kildare.
The house shapes, and what each one means
| Home | Where you'll find it | What it means for a clear-out |
|---|---|---|
| 1970s and 1980s semis with a garage | The older estates in Leixlip, Celbridge and Maynooth | The garage is usually the fullest room in the house |
| 1990s and 2000s estate houses | All six towns, especially Kilcock, Clane and Sallins | No garage, so the attic and the shed take the overflow |
| Townhouses, duplexes and apartments | Near the train stations and town centres | Stairs, lifts and management rules; see apartment clearance |
| Older houses on the main streets | The original village centres | Street parking and tighter halls, so we stage the load inside |
Attics first
In a North Kildare semi, the attic is usually where a clearance starts. Newer houses have trussed roofs, so there's often only a narrow boarded strip down the middle, reached by a Stira ladder from the landing. That's where twenty years of baby equipment, Christmas decorations, suitcases and college notes end up.
We bring it all down by hand, box by box, with covers on the landing carpet. Nobody walks on the bare joists, and the insulation is left as we found it. Our attic clearance page has more on how we do it safely.

The garage, and the shed that replaced it
Hardly anyone in these estates parks in the garage. It's a store for bikes, golf clubs, boxes, a spare fridge, a broken treadmill and the furniture that came out of the house when the new suite arrived. In newer houses without one, the same things end up in a timber shed at the end of the garden.
We clear both, separate metals and appliances for recycling, and leave the floor swept. If the shed itself is past saving, we can take it down too. See garage clear-outs and shed clearance.

Moving or downsizing: the order that works
Most North Kildare clear-outs come with a move attached. The smoothest ones follow the same order:
- Decide what's coming with you. Measure the new place and label what fits.
- Let family collect first. Give them a date to take anything they'd like.
- Removals take your things. Only what's going to the new home.
- We clear the rest. Furniture, the attic, the garage and the shed, in one visit.
- Cleaner last. Once the rooms are empty, before the keys go back.
When the house belonged to a parent who has died, the pace changes completely, and we work at the family's speed; see bereavement house clearance. If a home has become overwhelmed by belongings, our hoarder clearance is discreet and staged.
Moving out of a house in North Kildare? Send photos of each room, the attic, the garage and the shed on WhatsApp, with your moving date. We'll reply with a fixed price, usually the same day.
Estates, school runs and driveways
Most estate houses here have a driveway, so the van can load close to the front door. A few things help on the day: move your car out the night before, warn the neighbours if the road is narrow, and choose a mid-morning start so we're not arriving in the middle of the school run. The bridge in Celbridge and Maynooth's main street get busy at peak times, so we plan our route around them.
The price, and what happens to it all
You get one fixed price from your photos, based on volume, access, anything needing special disposal and the hours the job will take. Reusable furniture is kept back where possible, appliances and metals are recycled, and the rest goes to licensed facilities under permit NWCPO-25-13287-01. Floors are swept when we leave. For what a full clearance covers, see house clearance.
