Arklow, between the river and the sea
Arklow sits at the mouth of the Avoca River in the south of County Wicklow, a few miles short of the Wexford border. It's a working town with a harbour, a long main street and older houses packed in around the centre, ringed by estates that have grown along the edges. North and south, the coast is lined with holiday homes, chalets and bungalows, some lived in all year and many used only in summer.
For a clearance crew, that means three kinds of job: town houses with tight access, estate homes with full attics and garages, and holiday homes owned by people who live somewhere else. We do all three. Spotless is based in Dublin and covers the whole of Leinster, so an Arklow job is a planned trip down the M11. We price it from your photos, fix a date, and come with the van and crew to finish.
Holiday homes and seasonal houses
The coast either side of Arklow, from Brittas Bay down towards Courtown, has a great many holiday houses. When one is sold, inherited or simply overdue a clear-out, the owners are often in Dublin, Britain or further away, and getting down to sort it isn't easy.
That's the kind of job that suits a photo quote. Here's what we need:
| What to send | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Photos of each room, the garden and any shed | So the price covers everything |
| A list of what stays | Beds, white goods or furniture going with a sale stay put |
| Details of the access road or holiday park | Some have gates, set van times or narrow lanes |
| Who has the key | A neighbour, caretaker or the estate agent |
When the house is empty, you get photos of every room. If the garden has got away from you over a few seasons, we can clear the overgrowth and cuttings in the same visit; see garden clearance.

What sea air does to stored things
Houses near the coast are hard on anything left in a shed or garage. Bikes rust, tools seize, cardboard boxes go soft and furniture stored in an outbuilding picks up damp. None of that is a problem for us; it just affects how things are sorted. Rusted metal still goes for recycling, damp cardboard goes with the general load, and anything salvageable is put aside.
A holiday house that has been shut up since the autumn needs a little extra planning. Mattresses and soft furnishings may be musty, the attic may have no working light, and the shed door may have swollen shut. Mention any of that with the photos and we'll arrive with what we need.
If you've got a shed that's rotting from the bottom up, we can empty it and then take it down; see shed clearance. A garage full of rusted tools and old paint is covered by our garage clear-out service.
Town houses and estates
In the older part of Arklow, houses sit close to the street, halls are narrow and parking is limited. We plan those jobs around the carry. Furniture is dismantled where it stands, the contents are gathered by the front door, and the van comes in for short, efficient loads. Flats over shops and apartments in managed blocks bring stairs, lifts and building rules into the plan; see apartment clearance.
The estates around the town are easier to work in, usually with a driveway and a short carry. Here the volume tends to be in the loft, so an attic clearance by itself is often all a house needs before a move or a sale.

Need a house in Arklow cleared? Send photos of the rooms, shed, garage and garden on WhatsApp, with your Eircode and who has the key. We'll reply with a fixed price, usually the same day.
A parent's house, or a home that's got too full
Some Arklow homes are cleared after a death, often by children who grew up there and now live elsewhere. We go carefully, keep papers and photographs aside, and work in stages if the family wants to come down between visits. Our bereavement clearance page explains how that works with executors. If a relative's house has filled up to the point where daily life is difficult, our hoarder clearance service is calm, discreet and moves at their speed.
Price, permit and the finish
Your photos set the price. We look at the number of van loads, the distance from the door to the van, items that need separate disposal such as fridges or mattresses, and the crew's time. The quote includes the trip down from Dublin and doesn't change on the day.
We're fully insured, and as an authorised waste carrier we take the contents away under permit NWCPO-25-13287-01. Reusable pieces are kept back where we can, metal and electricals are recycled, and the rest is taken to licensed sites. Once the house is bare, carpet cleaning in Arklow is worth thinking about before a sale. Our house clearance page sets out a full job, house clearance in Wicklow covers the rest of the county, and Gorey is just over the border.
