Hills, river and old terraces
Enniscorthy climbs the hills on both sides of the Slaney, and its older streets climb with it. Near the centre there are long rows of terraced houses, many on a slope, with front doors straight onto the footpath and small yards behind. On the edges of town there are newer estates, and beyond them, farmland in every direction: out towards Oylegate and the coast, west towards Clonroche, and north-west into the foothills of the Blackstairs.
A common Enniscorthy clearance is a family home being settled after a death. A parent lived in the house for most of their life, the children have moved to Dublin, Wexford town or further, and someone has to empty it for the sale. That's where we come in, carefully and at the family's pace.
Spotless is based in Dublin and covers all of Leinster. Enniscorthy is a planned trip down the M11, so we price from photos, agree the date and set aside enough time to finish properly.
Loading on a steep street
A terraced house on a hill is one of the trickier clearances. The carry is longer, the street may be narrow, and the van can't always stop on the slope right outside. Here's how we handle it:
- Find a safe, level place to stop, even if it's a few doors down
- Stage everything in the hall so the loading is quick
- Bring an extra pair of hands for the longer carry where needed
- Take heavy furniture apart upstairs so it comes down a steep stairs in manageable pieces
A photo of the street outside your door, taken from both directions, tells us most of what we need to know. Flats in town, whether over a shop or in a block with a lift and a management company, are covered by our apartment clearance service.
The estates on the edges of Enniscorthy are far easier to work in. Houses there have driveways, level ground and short carries, and the bulk of the job is usually stored in the attic, the garage and the garden shed rather than spread through the rooms.

Probate clearances: how families use us
Clearing a house during probate brings its own questions. When can it be done? What has to be kept? Who decides? The legal side is for the executors and their solicitor, but the clearance itself can be made simple:
- Get a price early. Photos now, a fixed price back, no date until you're ready.
- Keep what matters. Anything for valuation, for family members or for the sale is marked and left alone.
- We check as we go. Drawers, handbags, coat pockets and books are gone through, and papers, cash, jewellery and photographs are handed over.
- Stages if needed. A first visit for the bulk, a second after the family has had another look.
- Photos at the end. Every empty room photographed for anyone who couldn't be there.
Our bereavement clearance page explains how we work with families, while the guide for executors goes further into probate and who signs off on what.

Farmhouses and country homes
Out from the town, the houses are mostly two-storey farmhouses, bungalows and one-off homes, and nearly all of them have a yard. The outbuildings, such as hay sheds, car sheds, stores and old workshops, often hold as much as the house, if not more. We empty them on the same visit and keep scrap metal apart for recycling. If a timber shed is past saving, shed clearance can include taking it down, and a packed garage is covered by our garage clear-out service.
Country homes often have a full attic too, with decades of storage from more than one generation; see attic clearance. Where a relative has kept far more than a house can hold, our hoarder clearance team goes room by room, gently, and never comments on how things got that way.
The price, and what happens to everything
The price comes from your photos. The things that move it are the number of van loads, a long or steep carry, anything needing its own disposal (fridges, mattresses, electricals) and the hours on site. Once you've accepted it, it stays fixed. We're fully insured on every job, and we carry the contents away under waste permit NWCPO-25-13287-01, as an authorised waste carrier.
Good furniture is kept back for reuse where it can be, scrap and white goods are recycled, and only the remainder is taken to licensed facilities. For more about a full clearance, see house clearance. If the house is going on the market, we can also clean the carpets once it's empty; see carpet cleaning in Wexford town. For the rest of the county, see house clearance in Wexford, or our page for Gorey further up the M11.
