Gorey, a commuter town with an older heart
Gorey is the first big town you reach in Wexford coming down the M11, and over the last couple of decades it has grown fast. Families moved here for more space and a manageable commute, and the town filled out with estates on every side. In the middle, though, the older Gorey is still there: a long Main Street of two- and three-storey buildings, some houses, some shops with flats above, and side streets of older homes behind.
That mix shapes the clearances we do here. In the estates, it's usually attics, garages and full family homes ahead of a move. In the older streets, it's town houses, flats over shops, and homes being cleared after a death or a sale.
Spotless is a Dublin-based crew covering all of Leinster, and Gorey is one of our longer trips. We price from photos, agree a date, and arrive with the right crew and van to finish in one go. The trip down the M11 is included in the price.
The estates: built for commuters, filled by families
Most of Gorey's estate houses have a driveway, a boarded attic, a garage or utility, and a garden shed. After fifteen years of family life, any of those can be full to the door. Typical loads include:
- outgrown cots, high chairs and toys
- bikes, scooters and a broken trampoline
- garden furniture, cracked pots and an old barbecue
- boxes from the last move that were never unpacked
We clear one space or the whole house. An attic clearance comes down through the hatch with covers on the stairs, a garage clear-out gets the floor back, and shed clearance can include taking the shed down. Loading is easy in most estates, as we back onto the drive and keep the path clear.
If you commute and can't take a day off, that's fine. Once the price is agreed and you've marked what's staying, we can collect a key from a neighbour or a key safe, work while you're away, and send you photos of the cleared rooms before we lock up. You come home to an empty attic or garage.

Older houses on and off the Main Street
The older town is a different kind of job. Houses near the centre may open straight onto the street, with a narrow hall and a steep stairs. Flats above shops are usually reached by a separate door and a stairs of their own, sometimes from the back.
We plan these jobs around the carry. The van stops as close as it legally can, everything is brought down and staged inside first, and large pieces are taken apart upstairs rather than forced round tight turns. For apartment blocks with a lift or a management company, see apartment clearance.
Common reasons for a Gorey clear-out
| The situation | What usually happens |
|---|---|
| Moving away, or back to Dublin | We take what the movers won't, after their van leaves |
| Selling the family home | Stored spaces first, living rooms last, then carpets cleaned |
| A parent has died | Gentle, in stages if needed, with personal items kept aside |
| A rental between tenants | Leftovers removed, the landlord's furniture left in place |
| A home that's become too full | Patient, private, at the occupant's pace |
For a family home after a death, our bereavement clearance page explains how we work with executors and probate. For a home that has become overwhelming, see hoarder clearance.
Clearing a house in Gorey? Send photos of each room, the attic, the garage and the garden on WhatsApp, with your Eircode. We'll reply with a fixed price and the dates we can come down.
Planning the trip down
Because Gorey is a long run from Dublin, good photos matter more than usual. We want to bring the right number of people and enough van space to finish without a second trip. When you get in touch, send:
- Photos of every room, the attic, the garage, the shed and the garden.
- Your Eircode, and a photo of the street if parking looks tight.
- A list of anything staying, and any deadline you're working to.
- A note of anything hazardous, such as gas bottles, asbestos sheeting or drums of oil.
Most full houses take one to two days. The price depends on the volume, the carry, anything needing special disposal, such as fridges, mattresses or electricals, and the time on site.

Once the rooms are clear
As we load, anything reusable is put aside where possible, metal and electricals are recycled, and the rest goes to licensed facilities under our waste collection permit, NWCPO-25-13287-01. We're fully insured on every job.
An empty house is also the right time for carpets: see carpet cleaning in Gorey. For the rest of the county, go to house clearance in Wexford; for more on what a full job covers, see house clearance. Just over the border in south Wicklow, we also cover Arklow.
