Several beds, one visit
Foxrock homes tend to be large, and that changes how mattress cleaning works. Instead of one stained mattress, there are often four or five beds: the main bedroom, a guest room or two, the children's rooms, maybe a bed in a granny flat or a room over the garage. It makes sense to do them together while the machine is set up, and to plan the order so every bed is dry by night.
We usually start with the beds that need the most work, often the children's, and finish with the guest room, which tends to need a lighter freshen-up.
Children's beds
Children's mattresses see the most action: accidents, drinks in bed, felt-tip, tummy bugs and the occasional pet sleeping on the end. Single and bunk mattresses are smaller and thinner than an adult bed, which helps them dry faster.

What to expect:
- Recent accidents usually come out well, along with the smell.
- Repeated accidents in the same spot, such as months of bedwetting, can soak into the core. We'll lift what we can from the surface and treat the area; some shadow or odour can remain.
- Drinks and food usually lift.
- Felt-tip often fades a lot; permanent marker may not move.
If a child's mattress is very old or badly soaked through, replacing it may be the better choice, and we'll say so from your photos. A waterproof protector afterwards saves the next one.
The main bed
The main bedroom usually has the biggest and heaviest mattress in the house, often a king or super king that nobody has turned in years. The usual marks are sweat yellowing on each side where people sleep, the odd tea or coffee spill, and a grey band along the edge where people sit to put on their shoes. Sweat marks lighten noticeably with pre-treatment, though years of yellowing rarely disappear completely.
Plenty of newer mattresses only have a comfort layer on one face and aren't meant to be flipped, so for those we clean the top and the border. If yours is two-sided, say so when you book, and we'll allow for both faces and help you turn it.
Guest rooms that sit unused
The guest bed is the opposite problem. It's hardly been slept in, but it has sat under a spare duvet for years, collecting dust, picking up a stale smell and sometimes a yellow mark from a visitor's cup of tea a few Christmases ago. A clean before visitors arrive, or before family come home from abroad, freshens it up.
Guest mattresses often haven't had a protector on them, so stains have gone straight in. Older sweat marks lighten noticeably but rarely vanish completely, and we'll be honest about that before we start.
What we check before cleaning
Every mattress gets a quick look before any water goes near it:
- The type. Sprung, pocket-sprung, memory foam, latex or hybrid. Foam soaks up water easily, so it gets the lowest moisture of all.
- The label. If the maker says not to wet-clean it, we'll talk you through what's possible.
- The stains. What they are and how old, so the pre-treatment matches.
- The condition. Sagging, broken springs or mould inside can't be fixed by cleaning.
Then we vacuum, pre-treat, extract with a hand tool and set the air movers going.
Getting the house ready for visitors? Send a photo of each mattress, its size and any stains on WhatsApp. We'll quote them together, usually the same day.
Drying across several bedrooms
With several mattresses, airflow matters more. Open the windows in each bedroom, leave the doors open, and put the heating on if it's cold. We move the air movers from room to room as we go, and a mattress can be stood on its side if that helps it dry evenly. Most are dry within a few hours, so a morning start means the beds can be made up in the evening. Press a hand into each one before the sheets go back on.

Foxrock and nearby
We cover Foxrock, Cabinteely, Carrickmines, Deansgrange, Leopardstown and Stillorgan. If the sofa needs doing too, see sofa cleaning in Carrickmines or our upholstery cleaning page; for carpets nearby, carpet cleaning in Leopardstown.
The price depends on the number of mattresses, their sizes, whether you want one side or both, and their condition. It's fixed before booking. If a mattress is past saving, we can take it away instead: see furniture removal. If you're clearing a family home before a sale, our clearance team also works locally: see house clearance in Foxrock.
We're fully insured, and Ciprian, who leads the cleaning, trained with Prochem in carpet cleaning in 2018. For the full method, see our Dublin mattress cleaning page, and for mattress cleaning elsewhere in the province, our Leinster mattress cleaning page.
