Drumcondra, Glasnevin and Santry compared
Dublin 9 runs from Victorian streets near the canal out to newer apartment blocks on the road to the airport. The type of house changes the plan for the day.
| Where | Homes you'll find | Plan around |
|---|---|---|
| Drumcondra | Victorian and Edwardian red-brick terraces, plus 1930s houses and some apartments | Narrow halls, steep stairs, permit parking and Croke Park event days |
| Glasnevin | Period houses near the village and the Botanic Gardens, and family homes from the 1930s onward | Long gardens with sheds; attics with decades of storage |
| Santry | Mid-century estates and plenty of newer apartment blocks along the Swords Road | Lifts, management companies and allocated parking |
Croke Park days and permit parking
Drumcondra lives alongside Croke Park. On big match and concert days, roads around the stadium are closed or restricted, and getting a van in and out of the area is slow. If your house is anywhere near Croke Park, check the fixture list before booking and we'll pick a day without an event.
Many streets in Drumcondra and parts of Glasnevin have pay-and-display or permit parking. A van loading outside a red-brick terrace still needs somewhere legal to stop, so tell us what the rules are on your road and we'll keep each stop brief.
Student lets and end-of-tenancy clear-outs
With DCU's St Patrick's Campus in Drumcondra and its Glasnevin campus close by, Dublin 9 has a lot of student and shared rentals. When a lease ends, landlords can be left with tired furniture, old mattresses, bags of clothes and a kitchen full of odds and ends.
We clear rentals between tenants, take mattresses and appliances for proper disposal, and leave rooms ready for the next viewing. If the carpets are staying, we can also clean them once the rooms are empty. See property clearance and our guide to clearing a rental between tenants.

Red-brick stairs and the wardrobe that won't fit
Victorian terraces were never built for modern furniture. Narrow halls, tight turns on the stairs and low ceilings on the return mean that big wardrobes, bed frames and sofas often have to be dismantled to get out. We bring the tools to do it, and we put covers down on stair carpets and in the hall before anything heavy moves.
The attic in an older house is sometimes reached through a small hatch with no ladder, so tell us what's up there and how you get to it. We'll bring what we need. See attic clearance. Out the back, Glasnevin and Drumcondra gardens often have a shed or an old outhouse; we empty those too and can remove the shed itself (shed clearance). Houses with a garage are covered by our garage clear-outs.
Family homes in Glasnevin and Santry
Away from the red-brick terraces, a lot of Dublin 9 is family housing: 1930s and later semi-ds in Glasnevin, and mid-century estates in Santry and Whitehall. Some of these houses have been home to one family for decades, so a clearance after a death or a move into care can mean a full attic, a packed shed and every press in the kitchen to go through.
When the house belonged to a parent, we work gently, hand over anything personal and clear in stages if the family needs time; see bereavement house clearance. Santry's newer apartment blocks along the Swords Road are a different job again, with lift bookings, set-down spots and management company rules to agree in advance. Our apartment clearance page covers those.

Booking a Dublin 9 clearance
Send photos of every room, plus the attic, the shed and anything outside. We'll reply with a fixed price that covers the crew, the van and the disposal, based on how much there is, how easy it is to carry out, and anything that needs separate handling, such as fridges, freezers and mattresses. A terraced house is usually a one-day job; a larger house with a full attic and garden can take two.
Everything is sorted as it leaves the house: reusable items set aside, metals and appliances recycled, and the rest taken to licensed facilities. If someone's home has become very full, we offer patient, private help with a cluttered home. For how we work across the rest of the city, see our main Dublin house clearance page.
